Christmas Event - 07th December - Marco Polo Cruise Ship

Post by Clive Bishop »

Christmas Event for any JOC members......An evening onboard a cruise ship

Yes I know it is only August but when you are looking for something different especially with an opportunity that isn’t always available you have to jump on it!!!!

I have been offered space for us and the wider JOC community and your friends and family to have an event on board the cruise ship “Marco Polo” when it is moored in Avonmouth, Bristol on Saturday the 07th December. I know that Avonmouth is not an exotic location but this is what you get and the options:

Included: Welcome Cocktail, 5 course dinner with ½ bottle of wine per person, a show in the ships theatre, access to the bars and nightclub on board. Any additional onboard spend will be charged to a ships card, which you will then pay off on disembarkation, just like they do on cruise voyages.

 Dinner & Show - £89.00 per person

 Dinner, show and overnight with breakfast:

 Twin share - Inside Cabin - £109.00 per person
 Twin share – Outside Cabin - £119.00 per person
 Twin share – Deluxe outside cabin - £139.00 per person
 Single – Inside cabin - £138.00
 Single – Outside cabin - £149.00

You have the choice of what option you take and you book direct and pay direct to the cruise operator using the email or telephone number – remember to quote JENMET3 as your reference.

Telephone - 01708 893109
Email: groups@cruiseandmaritime.com

Car parking (operated by the Port Authority, not the cruise operator will be £10 per car irrespective of if you are just coming for the evening or staying overnight.

This is open to all Jensen Owners Club members, owners club family and friends as it is completely space available booking system. We will be sat at groups of tables of 8 and they will endeavour to place all the tables as close as possible, subject to the numbers that attend from the JOC.
Regional representatives that are included in this email, please can you send it out to your regional members as this IS NOT a Wessex region exclusive deal  It is open to all members nationally.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS AN ADULTS ONLY SHIP AND SO THEY WILL NOT ACCEPT ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN (18) FOR THIS EVENING. Please check at the time of booking regarding age limits.

Booking conditions and payment are as per the cruise operator and so please make sure you are clear regarding their terms and conditions when booking and if you could drop us a line if you have booked so that we can make sure of numbers from our side instead of relying on the cruise operator!!

If you have any questions please send me an email as I am commuting to and from Africa for the next 5 weeks or so.

Kind regards

Clive

Just to let you know, this cruise ship is predominantly twin bed cabins, there are some double bed cabins, but they are up towards Suite level and a lot more expensive for the overnight stay.

Bookings are now open direct with the cruise line

Having just spoken to the cruise line, the boarding will be from 1600 on the day and those booked will be contacted a few weeks before to finalise things for the embarkation / disembarkation (getting into my old cruise words now).

A few people have contacted me and there sounds like some of the ladies are talking about a shopping trip to Cribbs Causeway up the road from Avonmouth earlier that day and for the lads, if there is interest a little potential trip to Filton to see Concorde or I might wangle a little tour of some of the local car dealerships - Aston, Bentley, Lamborghini etc.- unless of course you want to go shopping as well?

Anyway people are now booking etc and so look forward to seeing as many of you as possible as this is open to all in the JOC and your friends.

There have been a few questions as to booking online with the cruiseline. This is an option but lets just say not recommended for the following reasons

By booking using the phone number or email as per the original post then you will be sat with the group. If you book online you will be allocated space on the dining table with a random six other people in a different part of the dining room - You may want this :D but if you do want to be part of the JOC group then book using the methods I gave and quote the booking ref. above.

If you have already booked online then I suggest you phone the number on the first post and let them know and then hope they can change things around for you.

When booking via the group route, you will be allocated the best available cabin when you choose inside / outside or deluxe and so you don't have to worry about which cabin grade is which.

As someone has said, maybe I gave too much information - next time keep it simple (KISS)

Looking forward to seeing you on board, I believe we currently have 10 or 12 booked, so plenty of space at this early stage for more to join us - I am not keeping track as I am overseas working at the moment

I'd like to welcome those that have booked so far:

Clive & Lindsey Bishop
Paul and Lisa Lewis
John and Jackie Pym
Stuart and Lesley Kelsey
Chris and Rose Roberts
Robert and Carole Williams

I know there are at least another four people in the process of booking so anyone else want to join us, please contact the cruiseline using the details in the top of the post and we look forward to seeing you on board :D

Oh and to answer a repeated quick question the ship actually doesn't move - it remains moored up overnight, so no travel sickness pills needed :D !

Hi,

Just booked a cabin for the Xmas event for two over the phone.

Jeremy and Debbie Hughes

We will be coming down from Warwickshire. Looking forward to meeting some other members, as not a lot happens in the Midlands it would seem!

Cheers
Jez
