Dutch Autumn weekend 2019 in the Eifel Germany

Post by kees »

Re: Dutch Autumn weekend 2019 in the Eifel Germany (was in Champagne area)

Sadly our original plans for the Champagne were a bit to ambitious. We have tried hard to find suitable hotels for our Autumn weekend in the Champagne area, without much success! Either not available for the weekend, no suitable/safe parking, no bar, no restaurant, not enough rooms, to far away but mostly way to expensive which was a bit of a surprise.

We now have decided on the Eifel/Mösel area in Germany. We found a few nice hotels to choose from similar to the ones we are used to in our earlier weekends. We took an option on a few hotels and we will make our final choice in February-March after we have visited all the places.
For the Champagne drinkers amongst you the consolation is that they also have very good wines in the Mösel Valley!

The weekend will start on Thursday the 19th of September in a hotel in the South of Dutch Limburg, where we will gather together and stay the night. On the Friday we will continue to our final destination where we will stay until Sunday. We will set out a touristic route but you can also make a quick dash along the Motorway, Autobahn and main roads. On the Saturday we will set out a nice tour and on Sunday there will be a trip in the North or North-West direction home to our Lunch location.
You may also choose to join us at our final destination on the Friday and skip the Thursday.

Prices will be in line with the earlier events but the exact figure has yet to be determined. This will include Breakfast on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Diner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and of course the Lunch on Sunday where we will say goodbye and travel home. You can have the lunches on Friday and Saturday at your choice: lunch-room, McDonald's, restaurant or snack-bar. In the past the lunches were considered to copious for some/many.

Check this place out regularly for further details.

Kees,

please change "Mösel" to "Mosel". The latter is the correct name of the river with all the famous vinyards, the first I'd rather not comment ...

I might drop by on my way back from the Goodwood Revival.

I must have a different search capability. When I search on Google for Mösel I find a location in Austria 43km north from Klagenfurt on route 92. Postal code 9374.

I assume the results will change dramatically if you search without the L. Our airport used to be called Zurich Kloten- which I gather is refers to a part of the male anatomy in the Dutch language, and I think is one of the reasons why the name was changed to the rather strange name "Unique" :?

The name of your airpört becömes a traditiönal German wörd if you change the „o“ to „ö“ Felix.

Please believe Dr. Umlaut, guys. 8)

I must have a different search capability. So I searched for Mösel without the L. This time I get "Möse ist der Familienname folgender Personen: Josef Richard Möse (1920–2011), österreichischer Mediziner."
I'm still at a loss to understand what might be wrong with Mösel.

Either use Google translate:

https://translate.google.ch/#view=home& ... =m%C3%B6se" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Or, related to this topic, there is an interesting article on Georgia O'Keeffe's flower paintings (https://uk.phaidon.com/agenda/art/artic ... s-flowers/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
