JOC Spring Break - Wales - 10th May 2019 - 2 or 3 nights

Post by Clive Bishop »

I have now confirmed the tour accommodation and the weekend to locations such as the West Coast of Wales, Snowdonia National Park and Portmeirion plus Brecon Beacons depending on your route or number of days staying - 2 or 3 night weekend.

Based out of Llandrindod Wells, arrival on the Friday at your leisure with any southern route options that can include the Brecon Beacons.

Saturday we will take a long day trip out that will head north form the hotel and around / through the Snowdonia National Park to include a stop at Port Meirion before heading back to the hotel. This day will be a good 200 miles and will be an all day trip.

Sunday we will head across the Mid Wales Hills towards the coast and then travel down the coast towards Aberaeron then a route back across the hills towards the hotel and then from there head off back home OR for those that choose to stay the Sunday night a night to relax before heading home on Monday.

The hotel is the Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells which has been used by many car groups including Mercedes, Aston Martin, Morgan and BMW and is a great base for us. They are providing the driving routes and allocated parking for the JOC in the hotel car park. They also have on hand locally a classic car garage should things go the wrong / not to plan. It has been used by BMW Owners Club for a number of years and is sold out for their trips (identical to ours for the last four years).

At the hotel you will get the allocated parking, use of the leisure facilities and can take advantage of the spa they also have. The meals will be a full English breakfast plus a three course (5 choice menu) with tea and coffee afterwards.

You can book in for two or three nights ( Friday to Sunday / Monday) and choose which grade of room you prefer for a minimum two night stay.

Double / Twin Share

Classic room £152.00 per room per night double / twin share - half board
Superior room £172.00 per room per night double / twin share - half board
Tower room £212.00 per room per night double / twin share - half board

Single Room

Classic room £86.00 per room per night - half board
Superior room £96.00 per room per night - half board
Tower room £116.00 per room per night - half board

Family Rooms - (Double plus Bunk Beds)

2 adults & 1 child - £167.00 per room per night - Adults on half board, children on bed and breakfast.
2 adults & 2 children - £172.00 per room per night - Adults on half board, children on bed and breakfast

** I have questioned the family room rate and they have said from experience very few children want a full three course adult style meal in the evening and so menus will be provided for the children to choose from and this is paid for directly to the hotel on check out **

The hotel is dog friendly but the may be complications as they do not allow dogs in their restaurant and so I advise anyone wishing to take their dog with them, that they check with the hotel as to their arrangements.

Rates includes use of their leisure centre - swimming pool ( spa facilities chargeable on site).

To book please contact the hotel (http://www.metropole.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) directly by email or telephone to book your chosen room by phoning the main switchboard on 01597823700 and asking for reservations. After quoting “Jensen Owners Club” guests would secure booking each with a £20 per person non-refundable deposit.

We look forward to seeing you there and hope that the weather gods are kind to us, even if only dry :D :D :D

There will be extras arranged with respective costs (Entrance to Port Meirion for example) and so these will be advised in due course.

WHEN YOU HAVE BOOKED THE HOTEL PLEASE LEAVE A MESSAGE ON THIS THREAD, PM ME OR SEND A EMAIL TO SPRINGBREAK@JOC.ORG.UK......This is so we know who is going

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards

Clive & Lindsey

Hi Dave,

Yes understand that Zac Marshall will be with you, but as nothing was on any of the club events page, I knew nothing of it when the trip was originally not of Spring Break status.

Have a great time there...maybe you will see a few lost Jensen on the way out of the region on Sunday :D

Hi Clive, I have just managed to book 3 nights. Couldn't get a single so got a double at reduced rate for one occupant.
Hope the weather is good , unlike this years Spring Weekend!

Hi Helen,

Be good to see you there.....as for the email address - I will have to defer to Zac as he set that up, you can still use Wessex@joc.org.uk

DD: 01597 828 510 | reservations@metropole.co.uk

By the end of January I hope to have finalised any extra additions where there is a requirement to book and pay for entrance in advance, to which a booking form will be sent out so that you can tick off and pay for what you would like to do.....or of course you are completely free to do what you want.

Details of the two driving tours we will be doing on Saturday (all day) and Sunday morning will be sent out approximately 3 - 4 weeks before the tour and I am hoping to have the routes available to all that go on Google Maps, but have to sort out the technology of combining routes and then multiple uploading.

Regards

Just an update on those going and a reminder that there are still rooms on allocation for double / twin, any single rooms at this stage will be a double / twin for sole use

Clive & Lindsey Bishop - 3 nights
John & Jackie Pym - 3 nights
Peter & Liz Fensome - 2 nights
Karan & Raj Mangroo - 3 nights
Jayne Bell - 3 nights
Mr & Mrs Clive Messenger + child - 2 nights?
Andy & Kim Medland - 2 nights
Helen Newby - 2 nights
Ian & Trish Braide - 2 nights

Just waiting on the final entry details (optional) for Port Meirion and so will contact those going so that we can sort this out for the Saturday.

I am endeavouring to download and make available the driving instructions for Google Maps for Saturday and Sunday as Saturday in particular is complex due to the roads and I know there are a few on their own, so trying to read Tulip maps will be challenging on the move.

If any bright spark knows how to combine two maps and to download a total of three maps and be able to share it to all going for use on their phones using Google Maps,. please shout load and quickly :-)

A trial run is being made early March (weather permitting) and so it would be good to trial the software then ready for the actual tour.
