I have worked out 3 scenic routes to Mulhouse, one through Germany (now revised) which is 905km and takes about 16h 30m driving time,
The others are partly through Germany and partly through France. One is 1188km with 20h 30m driving time, the other is 925km and 17h 30m driving time.
These routes can be quite demanding with lots of winding and mountainous roads, however it is always easy to change to an autobahn/payage nearby if you have had enough.
These are made in Tyre (.trf) files to download on many TomTom or Garmin GPS (and perhaps some other) systems. These files are not accepted by the forum but I can send them directly to your email address. You may have to download Tyre: http://www.tyretotravel.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The route files created by Kees can be downloaded here:

I have zipped the files together for ease. If you can't handle zip files then please download 7zip.

A lot of you have enlisted to our Autumn weekend in Varel Ostfriesland Germany. Many from the UK, some from Denmark, Belgium, Hungary and of course members from our own club HJGH will attend. There are still some rooms available in the hotel and if needed we may be able to make a reservation for a few more.
In about 2 months time we will finalise the scenic tours (already mapped using Tyre) and locations for lunch.
This time we will also supply the road book in English as some made a suggestion to that extend.
If you feel like joining us do not wait to long to book.

Hello David,

Your payment/booking will be confirmed by either Hans Harting or Roger Loop.
At our last general meeting Roger Loop took up the position of treasurer from Hans Harting who has been our treasurer for many years and wanted to hand over the job to one of our younger members. There will be a transition period of several months.

Cheers,

The Dutch Autumn Weekend 2018 will take place in the weekend of 28-30 September in Varel in the north-west of Germany. Varel is situated about halfway between the old town of Oldenburg and the harbour town of Wilhelmshafen, both at about 25km/16mls. away from the hotel:

Location:

The booking of the Dutch Autumn weekend is now closed. We have a good group together. As said before: if you travel from the UK try to travel Harwich-Hoek van Holland as that will give you some extra time after the goodbye lunch on Sunday travelling back to the ferry compared to Rotterdam-Hull. HvH-Harwich departs at 22:00, last check in 21:15, R´dam-Hull departs at 21:00, last check in 19:30!!.

If you travel further to the Swiss International there are some routes available for downloading on many recent Tomtom and Garmin ( and perhaps others) GPS systems from our lunch location on Sunday to Mulhouse, see:

https://www.joc.org.uk/forum_images/rou ... lhouse.zip" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The location of the lunch is very near the 31, the Autobahn going South.
These routes have been compiled using Tyre and have not been checked physically by us. They are merely suggestions/examples as there are many ways that lead to...Mulhouse.

HI Kees,

Just want to check if it is possible to come for 2 persons as my work has changed and I am now available to come. Obviously would be subject to ferries as well.

Let me know if possible and then will see what I can do. :wink: :wink:

Our Autumn weekend in Ostfriesland is now fully booked. Just hope that the good weather will continue until September 30 or October 8 if you attend the Swiss meeting as well.

I don´t know the exact numbers but there are a good few of the Brits, Danes and some Dutchies going down to the Swiss event.
If you do the Swiss weekend as well, you have plenty of time to get there. Avoid the Autobahn and Payages and enjoy the countryside taking the back roads. There are plenty of small hotels along the way. Some are better than others,especially in France but that just adds to the sense of adventure. Don´t forget AirB&B either.
