Proposed Dates for Irish Tour 2018

Post by Clive Bishop »

As promised to many who have asked, here are the proposed dates for the South West / West of Ireland Tour in 2018.

The trip is being planned as a 12 day trip at this time de[parting on or around the 06th September 2018

The tour will start by leaving Pembrokshire and take in the following:

Waterford
Cork
Wild Atlantic Way from Kinsale through to Galway
Dublin

Return ferry then back to Holyhead.

There will be some free touring and some arranged things going on, but more of that later this year, when the details and contracting of suppliers has ben finalised.

There will also be a potential Dublin weekend for those that want to join us in Dublin on the Friday and leave with us on the Sunday or Monday. (14th - 16/17th September 2018)

These details will be also provided once the main tour is finalised.

From advance talks and the rumour mill, it looks like we may already have 15 cars interested in going and there will be a capacity limit due to specific hotels that will be used.

More details to follow but just wanted to add this to your wide range of choices for 2018 .

With any luck I'll be able to tag along while you're in the Southwest, if that's allowed

Of course no problem and would welcome you along at any stages of the tour. Unfortunately skipping Limerick itself on purely a logistical basis and nothing else

No problem, several that hadn't advanced registered intent for Ireland have said that. When the prices etc and booking form are all ready you can decide at a later stage

We will probably do the Dutch weekend as well but not Switzerland

I am hoping to get prices released by the end of September.

The itinerary is being checked at this time and hotels being prioritised in each overnight location and "visits" to various places being organised and planned.

So keep registering your interest here and as soon as it is all drawn up, I will put an announcement here and then ask Zac to arrange to have the tour plan and booking from etc downloadable from the JOC website.

OK well things have moved on quickly and the main tour will be

Departing Pembrokeshire to Ireland on the 06th September 2018.

Return from Dublin to Holyhead on the 17th September 2018

This means it is a 12 day tour at a relaxed pace for you to make decisions of where and when to stop between places but with the following inclusive items:
  • Ferry UK / Ireland / UK
9 nights half board - Irish Breakfast and three course evening meal
    2 nights bed and breakfast
Good quality 4 star hotels with allocated parking
    Ferry across the Shannon
Support vehicle for spares and luggage service for Jensen Healey's going.
Guide books and route planners for the trip.
Visits / admission to:
  • Tours of Midleton and Tullamore Distilleries with tastings
    Waterford Crystal
Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre and Tower
    Guinness Factory tour and tasting
    "Gala" Dinner in Dublin
    Powerscourt Gardens & Waterfalls
Free time in Dublin for the required by some - retail therapy
Private coach transfers on two occasions so that you don't have to drive.
There may well be other things added as they are volunteered by certain suppliers.

Pricing will be released next week based on twin / double occupancy of rooms / car and single price.

The package will be a complete tour package including the above items and will adhere to the UK / EU package travel regulations and so there will be a booking form with term and conditions provided to book on this tour.

Not Included

Items of a personal nature
Drinks unless otherwise stated in the final itinerary
Any additional food other than what will be stated in the final itinerary
Petrol !! Although whislt in Ireland you will probabaly do no more than 1200 miles.

So I hope that this is a sneak preview and so all you need is the price and the decision.........more details to be disclosed next week!!

Just a sample of what awaits on the Wild Atlantic Way (WAW)

Blowing a gale all day but held out dry, so far, a few modern Mercs and these two :) :

Then the inevitable started when we arrived at Loop Head:

And the obligatory 'cars on the ferry' shot:
