Dutch autumn weekend 2018 28-30 September
Dutch autumn weekend 2018 28-30 September
The Dutch Jensen club, Het Jensen Genootschap Holland, did not plan an autumn weekend in 2017 as not to interfere with the German event.
However HJGH will be organising an event in the last weekend of September 2018 in Ost-Friesland, the very North-East of Germany, an area you will normally not visit very often but there is lots to see and the driving should be good.
The number of available rooms will be limited to about 35 rooms (35 cars or appr. 70 people), similar to the Sauerland and Luxembourg events.
As soon as the exact location and pricing is arranged we will let you know further details.
Keep watching this space.

Re: Dutch autumn weekend 2018
Hi Kees,
that's very close to where I was born. Very nice and very special area with very talkative people
If it doesn't overlap with the Swiss event in 2018 I might be joining.

Hi Kees
Are you aware that we're planning a meet for 2018, Oct 4th-8th? We were of course hoping that the Dutch would join us. What should we do?

Felix, I thought it was the 1st weekend in October, 5th - 7th, not September. Has something changed?felixkk wrote:Hi Kees

We are aware of the Swiss meet, but as we already skipped the 2017 Autumn weekend because we had hoped (in vain) quite a few members would attend the German meeting later this year, we cannot skip a 2018 event. The only weekends available to us are the last weekend in September or the first in October.
Contrary to the 5-yearly Lustrum International weekends like Volendam 2016, the yearly Autumn weekend are basically a National event with International participants (member/non member) always very welcome (and usually form the majority).

Hi Kees. What do you suggest- that we each hold our event? Not sure that's ideal, especially as you are holding yours in Germany.kees wrote:most likely in Ost-Friesland, the very North-East of Germany

Re: Dutch autumn weekend 2018
Hi Felix,
Ost-Friesland is bordering the Netherlands so it would not be a problem for Dutch and Belgian members of "Het Jensen Genootschap Holland" to attend. We have always organised our Autumn weekends in one of the neighbouring countries.
It is very unlikely that many, if any, Dutch/Belgian members will attend the Swiss meeting apart from one of our members living in Switzerland. So no real conflict there.
However there will be foreign (UK, German, French, Scandinavian, Polish etc.) Jensen Owners, whom are mostly not a member, that may have to make a choice: joining the Swiss or the Dutch event.
The adventurous ones, who do not mind a long drive and trips in the Alps, will probably go for the Swiss event (I would). Others may join the Dutch event. I do not expect much competition between the two events as they are fairly different in character.
We all have to satisfy the wishes of our members. We simply cannot cancel an Autumn weekend twice in a row.
Cheers,
Kees Oudesluijs

Re: Dutch autumn weekend 2018
Please forgive, I don't want to take hostage of your post. Basically what you're saying and correct me if I'm wrong, is that there's no point for us to move our event to 2019, since we'll have the same conflict?kees wrote:Hi Felix,

JJ- the two events are either a week apart, or on the same weekend

Re: Dutch autumn weekend 2018
Hi Felix,
Not necessarily. We could try to organise the events a few weeks apart in 2019. However the base line is what your and our members want and the foreign (non Swiss/Dutch/Belgian) participants will have to make a choice (as may be in 2018) to attend the Swiss or Dutch venue or both.
Cheers,

Thanks Kees. We'll discuss this within our committee, we have no flexibility with the date of our event if we want to take part in Morges, which we do. Best, Felix
