Opportunity to take your Jensen to the USA 2018

Post by colin7673 »

An opportunity to take your Jensen on a tour of Virginia, North & South Carolina/

The Proposed Dates: 1st – 15th June. 2018

Working in conjunction with Scenic Car Tours (http://www.sceniccartours.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) who are a well-respected tour operator, we have put together a tour of Virginia, North & South Carolina that will incorporate the East Coast Nationals at Asheville NC. Black Mountain
The trip will involve shipping you car to Baltimore USA from Southampton. By a well renowned shipping company 2WGobal, (using RoRo ships), who ship high end motor vehicles of all shapes and sizes worldwide. The quoted price is around £2000 per car, which will be confirmed once we have a full idea of the numbers wishing to commit to go. It will be planned for the cars to arrive in time for the planned tour, allowing for customs clearance, but extra hotel costs maybe incurred as well as local custom charges. Likewise on the return the cars will have to be returned to Baltimore for clearance and shipping.
This will be a 14 night tour; any extension will be at extra cost and individuals making those arrangements.

Outline Tour Plan

1st June- Arrive Washington, Overnight
2nd June- Full day in Washington
3rd June – Full day in Washington
With their being so much to do in Washington, it really does warrant 2 full days at the minimum.
4th June- depart Washington and travel to the fantastic town of Lexington. Driving via Skyland and the great skyline drive, via the Shenandoah national park. Overnight Lexington. 200 miles/4 hours driving
5th June – Depart Lexington and travel to Monte Vista hotel for your pre-booked event. 290 miles/5-6 hours driving if going via mount rogers, Grayson highland park and the south side of the Cherokee national park.
6th-10th June- ECN -- At extra cost = arrange by the USA Jensen Group
10th June – depart Monte Vista hotel for the direct drive to Charleston , South Carolina. 280 miles – 4.5 / 5 hours driving. 2 nights in Charleston
11th June- see above
12th June – Leave Charleston for Morehead city via the great coastal drive passing through Myrtle Beach, Wilmington and Jacksonville. 270 miles / 5.5 hours driving. Potentially time this evening for those that wanted to go and visit Cedar Island etc.
13th June – Depart Morehead city heading along the coastal drive via nags head before finishing at Virginia Beach – 290 miles / 5.5-6 hours driving
14th June – Virginia Beach back to Washington to drop the cars, and overnight, before flying back the next day
15th June – Flying Home today
For the 10 nights (5 nights before and 5 nights after black mountain event) in Best Western or similar:- £800.00 per person sharing a room, or £1525.00 per person in a double room for single use (1 person in 1 room)
- Room only accommodation throughout. Most Best Westerns will provide a basic, complimentary breakfast, which we will try and book for you, should you choose to book the accommodation services with us.
- Hotels such as the Omni grove will charge you onsite for breakfast, should you choose to have breakfast at the hotel
- Complementary parking at the hotels throughout
- 24 hour emergency helpline whilst on tour
- Full financial protection in accordance with the EC package travel directive

Please note that the cost of the ECN is not included as yet, price to be arranged and we are waiting to hear from the ECN organisers on this including if we can use their hotel allocation.
You will need car Insurance while in the USA for which I suggest Hagerty, in the USA. This has to be done independently and is not part of the tour price.
Scenic Car Tours are a fully licensed operation and so can arrange your return flights, which will be extra to the tour or you can arrange your own flights to Washington DC and back.

It might be worth me mentioning, having just paid my deposit, these hotel bookings above, are made through Scenic Car Tours . The actual East Coast Nationals hotel is booked independently.
There's still time to book folks! :D :D

There will be some comprehensive details in the next magazine about this trip., but for now here are the expected shipping cost with some added detail.

Basis you needing the vehicles ready by Monday 4th June for collection, they need to be on quay for shipping in week 20, 14th May. The sailing is approx.. 11 days.

I will need all the log books so I can DHL to the agent and she can get approval and book he departure and delivery to docks.

Heading out, pallet for the spares be approx. GBP 300 for the pallet and wrapping, freight be approx. USD 450

Basis the car dims of 5.2M x 1.6M x 1.65M, and under 2000kg freight will be roughly:

Freight and Docs outwards: GBP 720 (Sou) 850 (Zee)
US import Agent fees : USD 180 + USD 70
US Port Fees approx.. USD 100

Export US Agent Fees: USD 310

Export Freight to UK: GBP 700 ((800 Zee appox.))

UK import Fees: GBP 145 (Discharge fee and customs fee)

A survey per vehicle is GBP 40 per car.

You also need to be aware that to collect the vehicles from the port your need an escort with a TWIC card and this cost you pay in cash on the day and averages USD 50.

Everyone needs EPA approval before they ship their vehicles and my US counterpart will require copies of the EPA approval, ISF filing form, Power of Attorney form.

There is still time to book for this extra special and momentous excursion... but remember places are limited
Only working half a day now.
