We too wanted to thank Jens, Joerg and the other coordinators for a wonderful weekend / fortnight. The hotels, food, events were just perfect. I cannot make up my mind which was the best bit: the Saturday tour or the Sunday in Dresden.
We arrived back on last Sunday, having left 2 weeks before on the Monday. We did 2040 miles, mainly off the motorways and stayed in some also nice places. The memory of the awful weather on the outward journey is getting hazy. The return leg was brilliant.
Attached hopefully are some pictures: Beginning with the Schloss (Saturday evening)

Jens wrote:It's going to be anything but hectic, Dave.

No concours, no polishing, no remarks from the judges, just a relaxed time with friends and a wee bit of fun.
I 've just gone back to the beginning of this thread, which is way back in February and found this quote from Jens. What part wasn't hectic, getting up early to drive to the venue over 2 days, and then up again to do the rally. Back to the hotel to get washed , turn the underpants back-to-front and inside out,( I travel light) back for the gala dinner. Catch a taxi at 2:30 am to my hotel as people kept me drinking, up early for breakfast, off to Dresden. This museum booked, then that museum booked, back to the hotel for another beer, where does the relaxing part come in?

It really is interesting though to go back to the start and see the seeds being sewn, and now we know the fabulous result. :D
Can't wait for Switzerland.

The pleasure was mine, Dean (excellent navigational skills and very patient when I got things muddled- I can't remember how many U turns we did on the Czech border, I think we crossed the border 5 times). Lovely to meet both you and Monica- hope the rest of your stay was pleasant and that you got home safely. And of course excited, that you will try to make it to Switzerland- maybe you can bring along a pair of those manifolds of yours :D Felix

Hypothetical question: How much would a speeding ticket cost in Germany, 117kmh instead of 80?

Ask to John from Holland what 125kmh in a 90kmh zone in France cost him. I wouldn't know these things because I don't understand kmh or euros

Your hypothetical friend would have to pay 120 Euros + a fee of 28,50 Euros and, if German, gets 1 point on his driving licence plus (if caught again within the next 12 months) enjoying one month of bycicle riding, walking or public transport.

I don‘t know what a hypothetical Swiss friend will be asked to pay instead. Probably a few more Francs in additional fees. In any case it will be cheaper than getting caught in Switzerland.
