Re: London Classic Car Show Excel 18-21 Feb 2016
I love the stories that you hear when working on a car show stand. One guy who came early this morning was aged about 65-70. Back in the sixties his father was the Jensen distributor in Bournmouth. A customer had someone reverse into the passenger door of his CV8 badly damaging the frame. This guy's father rang the factory and asked for a passenger door to be sent down. "No" said the factory "you'll need to bring the car up to us." This chap and his father set off for West Brom. Upon arrival they were taken to a corner of the factory where roughly six CV8 doors were waiting. The old door was removed and these doors were all trial fitted. The best fitting one was chosen. On old metalman then did some final fettling. It was then boxed up, put in the car and the damaged door was rehung. Off they went back to Bournmouth where their local paintshop did the necessary repairs.
I also spoke to an old guy this morning whose father bought four brand new Interceptors from Folletts. He had two Mk Is, then a Mk II and finally a III.

One frosty Sunday morning in Liverpool he and his friend set off for a game of golf. His friend had a Mustang and they began racing. Mike lost control of the FF, flipped it, travelled 200ft on the roof and took out a lamppost. The car was very badly damaged and written off by the insurance company. Mike has taken my e-mail address and undertaken to send the photo to me. He currently runs a Ferrari and a McLaren, hard life eh?

He must be one lousy driver to A lose control of an FF and B its disgusting because unless they have been seriously tweaked for competion Mustangs stink in the handlin department the FF would run rings round it,

To those who may be interested, the story relating to the crash of the FF missed out a significant causal element.

NLG was in the Main Hall, on an insurance stand. The toffs didn't make it to the Club Stands hall...

It transpires that the FF referred to above, rolled and badly damaged is in fact Per Eie's car, 119/183. It must have been repaired by the factory.

Many thanks to John, Tim and Shaun for their efforts in organising the London stand. I thoroughly enjoyed the four days down there, the stand looked amazing and we received many positive comments. Four guys from the Norfolk Classic Car Club commented that our stand was by far the most "approachable" stand, no cars roped off and members eager to talk about the cars. It's always nice to hear comments like that. Looking forward to next year.

In addition to finding the first owner of Per Eie's FF a guy walked onto the stand stating that he had "a Mark Two Jensen, the last one made apparently." He then showed us photos on his phone, an E suffix Vignale Interceptor. His details have been passed to Steve Hickey. They keep turning up.

Re: London Classic Car Show Excel 18-21 Feb 2016
I met a chap called Graham Jones, his father was P G E F Jones, known as Alphabet Jones for obvious reasons (or simply Peter because it was easier) and Graham told me his father had two C-V8s, one pale metallic blue and one dark metallic blue, we searched the records (on my lap top) and found the pale metallic blue car, but not the dark metallic blue car. So far so ordinary, but Graham was certain that his father had converted the pale blue car to 4-wheel drive by transferring to it the mechanicals from a scrap FF so creating a C-V8 FF. Graham was able to recognize the location of the only photo of the car that I have so I don't doubt his sincerity, though in the photo the car shows no obvious signs that it was so converted, apart from wearing rostyle wheels that Graham says came off the FF. The car exists, though in what condition I don't know, and I know who has it, so I will be following up the information.
