Riac National Car Show Dublin 2014

Post by Darren »

The Jensen Owners club will have a stand, at this new bi-annual event, next year. The show will be held over two days, Saturday 1st and Sunday the 2nd of March 2014 and has grown in size, due to the first show being a massive success and oversubscribed. Although not on the scale of the NEC, yet, it promises to be a great day out with many attractions, exhibits, club stands, auto-jumble and trade stands. We hope to have a broad selection of Jensens on show and welcome any assistance on the stand.

Darren, I'm up for going. I'd be taking my Interceptor on the ferry.

Not long now to the Irish National Classic car show in Dublin, where the Jensen Owners Club will be presenting its wares.
Ferry booked for Friday the 28th of February from Holyhead for a very reasonable cost, but Ive just checked the Ryan air site and a single to Dublin is £9.99 all in  or return trip from £34.99
We are making a long weekend of this event returning home on the Tuesday, cramming in some sight seeing and Guinness tasting.
Entrance tickets to the show are 15 Euros but if we get enough interested, we can get them for 10 Euros each if booked in advance in bulk.
There has been a lot of interest in this early show with a few owners joining us with their Jensen's for the weekend so please send me a PM or tel on 07973 961640 for more details.

I've just booked onto the same Stena Line ferry as Darren which is as follows:

Fri 28.2.13 - departing Holyhead at 08.55 hrs, arriving Dublin Port 12.10 hrs.
Tues 4.3.13 - departing Dublin Port at 08.20 hrs, arriving Holyhead at 11.50 hrs.

We haven't yet booked accommodation. Darren suggests that when all UK members are confirmed we can all book at the same hotel. Here's to the craic! I'd like to organise an evening at a traditional Irish music session in one of Dublin's fine hostelries.

We're booked into the Sandymount Hotel which is very close to the event venue.

Thanks for directing me here Paul, I think I left my brain in 2013!
This should be a good weekend, I'm looking forward to it.

Hi - First post from new member in Dublin. I acquired a 1969 MK1 115/3290 in November via Rejen where it remains with a long list of work before delivery in early (I hope) summer 2014. I look forward to meeting some members at the show in March. I have really enjoyed reading so many posts on the site - a fantastic resource of information. Thanks all!

Well the Irish National Classic Car Show ended today. It was a great weekend for the marque. We had three very fine examples on the stand. Many people showed a great deal of interest in our cars and left with JOC joining leaflets. Some seemed seriously interested in acquiring a Jensen. A full write-up will follow in the club magazine.

My highlight was seeing photos on Alan Byrne's phone of his inner sill replacement exploits with his Mk I Interceptor. Despite never having done anything like it before he is going about it in a very methodical fashion and will very clearly do a good job. Got to go now, Darren Barnes keeps dragging me out to Guinness hostelries.

Lovely atmospheric shots, Paul.

541 parked next to Interceptor Mk1 R - decisions, decisions... And they both have those gorgeous polished aluminium letters on their numberplates!

I've added a few more photos to the link tonight. These are photos that my son took of my car outside Trinity College, Dublin tonight. He used a technique called light painting. I'm sure you'll agree that the results are impressive.

This was a very good show and a big improvement on last year, well attended with the Jensen stand attracting a great deal of interest.
It was good to catch up with other Jensen owners too and spend some time looking at their wonderful cars!
I have to also thank Alan, Darren and Paul for their help in trying to get my car going again after breaking down in the car park. Eventually the AA man tracked down the fault and spared me the truck ride home.
BTW Darren, I still have your 13mm spanner.
