Sandwell Historic Vehicle Show 13th May 2012

Post by Lawson »

Thousands of people from all over the country are expected to flock to the Sandwell Historic Vehicle Show on Sunday, 13 May.

It will be the 34th show and this year it will feature the iconic 60s and 70s MGB marque.

Built in Abingdon near Oxford, the hard top MGB and soft top MG Roadster, were popular sports cars with drivers in the Midlands for decades.

The show will again be held on the showground at Sandwell Valley in West Bromwich.

Visitors will also get the chance to take part in a special feature at the show - The Battle of Britain Experience - where they will get the chance to get up close to a replica Spitfire, Hurricane and Messerschmitt aircraft and visit the travelling Battle of Britain Exhibition.

There will also be the usual array of veteran and vintage cars, motorcycles, commercial buses, coaches and military vehicles on show.

Included in the event will also be a funfair, giant inflatables, craft fair, autojumble and numerous trade stands, to make it a fun-packed day.

Entry to the show is free and parking is available in nearby Dartmouth Park for £3.

The show starts at 11am. For further details go to the Historic Vehicle Show webpage or call 0121 569 8276.

The club doesn't have a stand this year - Steve Johnson used to organise it but is going to local show which is on at the same time - the people he spoke to organise Sandwell didn't want to do it.

I guess you can always arrange to park some cars together.

It would be worth you speaking to the new area co-ordinator Darren Barnes if you want to take this on for next year.

Having been to the Sandwell show a few times, there was always a fantastic turn out of cars on the JOC stand, chats with locals that worked at Jensen and of course the pilgrimage drive down Kelvin way. It is a shame Steve could'nt do it this year but after speaking to him, last week, he hasn't ruled out doing it next year? also a very memorable show for Mr Richie and his magnificent FF. :D
