Hmm... I wonder if it might be possible to recreate that event?

Or go to Duxford airfield, Cambridgeshire, and try towing a caravan at over 100mph - the C-V8 set a speed record with that.

Soon! David Wright and I went to see a venue on Thursday, but there are some issues to resolve still and I don't want to say where it is at the moment.

Re: CV8 60th Anniversary 2022 Event
ANY event at ANY location to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the C-V8 in 2022 is more than welcome, John.
I trust you in finding a great spot like in 2012.

Re: CV8 60th Anniversary 2022 Event
The issues I mentioned have now been resolved, we were just trying to understand exactly what some costs would be and ensure there was affordable accommodation nearby, that sort of thing. I informed the JOC committee of our proposals today in advance of a committee meeting tomorrow and if the committee is happy with what we propose then I will make an announcement on Thursday.

Re: CV8 60th Anniversary 2022 Event
Thanks Felix and Jens (Jens how did you persuade the museum to let you sit in the Napier Railton, I didn't think you were even allowed to breath in it's vicinity).
A little more information as promised, though this and more will go into the JOC magazine next year and i will do my best to contact non-JOC members with C-V8s directly.
The main event will be at Brooklands on the 2nd October, Sunday. To book you must use the Brooklands Museum website and book online, Brooklands makes no special arrangements for car clubs other than to allow us to park in the museum and display our cars with flags and banners etc., and standard entry charges apply. You don't need to book in advance, you can buy tickets on the day and if you arrive in a Jensen you will have access to the museum and the club display. It seems the museum website allows booking only a couple of months in advance so don't try to book now.
On Saturday evening we will be hosting a 60th Anniversary dinner at Brooklands in the Bluebird Room. Ian Northeast will be going to Bonneville in July 2022 with his C-V8 (all being well) and we hope he will achieve his ambition to drive the world's fastest Jensen and we have asked Ian to be our guest speaker and tell us how he did it.
We will shortly be reserving rooms at a local hotel (not the Brooklands Hotel as that is very expensive and very ''corporate') for the Friday and Saturday nights. There will be details and instructions on how to book once we have confirmed everything with the hotel. Brooklands Museum has suggested we could use the services of a vintage bus hire company to take us from the hotel to the museum and back, again we await details.
On Saturday there will be supporting events and lunch. We have two possibilities in mind at the moment:
'Studio 434 revisited'. Lots of cars and lots of Jensens (well, 19) but we did go there 10 years ago and it is a 40 mile drive around the M25.
The Lewis Collection, similar to 434 but smaller this car collection is near Churt and only 18 miles from our hotel and we can devise a scenic route to take in the Surrey countryside.
We will ask people which they prefer and confirm nearer the time.
Studio 434 details are here https://www.studio434.co.uk/
The Lewis Collection does not have a dedicated website but it is a classic car hire business, as is Studio 434, and the business has a website https://www.zachsgarage.co.uk Zac of Zac's Garage is Zac Lewis (and sorry but you do have to register to view the website content but that only takes a moment).
Friday night is if course just an opportunity to meet old friends at the hotel and take part in Saturday's activities without having to set off from home very early in the morning.

Re: CV8 60th Anniversary 2022 Event
Brilliant plan and definitely on of the highlights of next years' activities.
As for the Napier Railton:
It was close to Christmas 2009 (some older contributers may remember the Christmas Wing Dings in Minster Lovell of that long forgotten aera), the museum was nearly empty and I was standing there admiring the beast. Than this older chap came by, we chatted a while and then it turned out him being the "temporary custodian" of this car. And because I was (and still am) and handsome, charming German fellow he asked me whether I would like to take a seat. Which I did.
A great experience I'll never forget.
End of story.
