Le Mans Classic 2022

Post by zacmarshall »

The postponed Le Mans Classic is now due to be either the first or second weekend in July 2022.

The organisers expect to announce the dates this month, as there isn't that much left of this month I would like to get the details of anyone else that may be interested.

I have contacted those that were down for the postponed events.

What we normally do is travel over from Portsmouth on the Thursday morning, stay over in Alencon and then drive to the circuit on the Friday morning. We camp Friday and Saturday night and then drive back to Caen on Sunday, stay over there and then get the Monday morning Ferry.

If anyone in interested please contact me asap.

We of course welcome any continental members that want to join us there.

I need to work out the latest costs, costs for the last time worked out at about £410 per person including ferry (one way - some people were going to do a tour of Normandy afterwards).
Ferry costs will have risen quite a bit, I will update costs this week.

I'm interested Zac. It'll be 10 years on from the last time I went in the Interceptor so about time it, and I, went again.

We went 17 years ago in our '68 E Type Jaguar, and had a blast. I will need to come to England next year....and would like to line that trip up with a visit to LeMans. Please keep me informed on the dates and arrangements for the Classic.

Hi Zac. We're still up for the trip, but I'll confirm with Andi and Mike just to make sure. Our boys will probably want to join also.

we have 2 cars listed for the competition at the moment, papers are submitted - but we're still not having any information from the race organisation...
Regarding the communication up to now it looks like I'm not getting a start permit for my GT40, because of too many 'optimizations'
Hope my friend/partner will get the permit for his Ferrari.

Will keep you informed

Please note that the organisers have delayed the decision as to when the 2022 event will be until October (was September)

Just for your information regarding travelling to Portsmouth next year, I believe there will be a clean air zone in place this November, which probably means a charge of some kind , hopefully classic car’s will be not hit by this..
Cheers Alistair

Fortunately private cars, motorcycles and private vans will not be charged to enter the Portsmouth clean air zone.

I've been in hospital and then recovering, then flat out with work so have missed some emails and haven't kept an eye on the forum.
Chris Reed spoke to me about this at the Restoration show, I will get back to you (and Michi) this week.
