Re: My Early Mk3 Interceptor Restoration project
With no car shows or events to attend I was more than happy to take up the invitation to meet up with Jensen Guru Dave ‘Oily Rag’ Pearce at his home & business on the North Cornish coast...
Had a great time talking Jensens and comparing our two cars which are only 21 chassis numbers apart. (128/4430 & 128/4451)
Main barn is really retro with plenty of signs , banners & a working Reel to Reel.
Plenty of ongoing projects , I especially like the test rig ...
Typical sparky with everything neatly stored and labelled in the stable area.
Looking forward to seeing one the FF’s completed
140 mile runout did the car the world of good.

Re: My Early Mk3 Interceptor Restoration project
John it was really good to have a catch up with you, it ended up more talking than working but we still found time to fettle your car and sort out a couple of niggles.
Also nice to test drive a car so close to mine from the production line, your car runs as well as it looks but its always nice to know how they compare to others especially cars from the same year as earlier and later cars can feel so different.
Shame you didnt arrive a day later as you would have had chance to catch up with Grant who brought down his MK2 for a little work.
I cant believe he painted it himself in his 20s, the lines and finish are really good and the paintwork has stood up well for the last 30 years. Have a look for yourself. Hopefully I can get started on it when the 541 is finished next week.

Re: My Early Mk3 Interceptor Restoration project
Interesting day on Thursday (10th Sept). Spent the day filming with a
crew from Discovery USA down in Cornwall.
The program is not car related but featured two high end retail
outlets based both in London & New York.
The location was the stunning and unique Trematon Castle.
The morning was spend with Paul & Helen from De Vol kitchens using
the car as a backdrop as they travelled to the castle , while in the
afternoon I drove the car to get all the distance and ‘point of view’ shots.
The car was fully insured by the production team and well looked after.
An interesting insight into how documentaries are filmed
Both DeVol Kitchens & House of Hackney @ Trematon at at the high end of the market.

Re: My Early Mk3 Interceptor Restoration project
Fantastic picture. Good for the marque to get things like this out there. Looking forward to seeing more like this with the new number and tax disk! This reminds me of a spotless metallic blue Mk3 parked in Pinner high street in 1994. Sheets of spotless chrome, the blue, tinted windows. All I could think was "Blimey, I'd like one of those." Within a year I had my first Jensen, and it was blue!

Re: My Early Mk3 Interceptor Restoration project
Tucked 128/4451 safely away for the winter.
With a council depot less than half a mile away using the same road that I use to go everywhere it seemed the right decision to avoid the grit/salt combination. It’s a bus route so is very well maintained.
Thanks to Gary Cream for the kind offer of the Carcoon which now has a refurbished top half.
Looking forward to 2021 and some normality

Re: My Early Mk3 Interceptor Restoration project
It was really good to get the cars together at Refuel last year and food to give them a run.
Im sure your car did the most to promote the Jensen brand last year, with all the magazine, TV and calendar shots. Keep up the good work again this year.
