Yet another box ticked today.

Hottest day so far in Devon so time to sort out

The A/C.

Quick re-gas & a mended capillary and 4c out of

the vents.

No idea if 4c is what to expect but felt cool stuck in

traffic..

With my Air-Con functional and the sun shining brightly I

took the car out for a quick blast around the South Devon roads and

Nice one John,

Today I went from B'ham to Bridgnorth, for a civilised mid week lunch with my local car club, around a 45 mile round trip. The car performed effortlessly, as usual, but wish I had air con, as it started to get a bit warm inside. All that glass is great for all round vision, but it lets the sun in.

How quickly a year goes.

This time last year my car was in the spray booth & hastily rebuilt in 16 days.

1700 odd miles later it passed its MOT with no advisories..

(MOT'd as a CV8!)

An interesting discovery today. While changing the inlet manifold , valley pan &

carb the mechanic discovered a bent pushrod not located...(bottom right-photo)

The camshaft is also heavily worn.

He reckons it's been like it a long time. I have covered around 4,000 miles in the

car with 2,300 in the last 12 months. It will be interesting to see how well it goes

once sorted.

(New performer camshaft going in)

Wow.. that rods bent-bent
Incredible that the car ran on all 8 at all.

I've just got back from the states and in my luggage carried a new Edelbrock 383 intake so will be going through the same exercise in a few weeks.

Cheers

Many thanks to Andy @ Appleyards for sourcing the parts so quickly.

Decided on Edelbrock performer cam & new timing kit,

As the cars half stripped it makes sense to sort the heads while we are at it.

Will get them skimmed which should help the compression a bit.

(Bent rod was Cylinder 1 Inlet)

Busy start to the new year ....

Hi John,

Just a quick Q re: the manifold.

Did you use the Edelbrock performer manifold? If so, what did you use to blank the 2 small holes as they only seem to provide the plugs for the bigger ones? Any idea of the size/thread?

Thanks

What a beautiful restoration. It looks simply incredible. Really showed me what someone would have seen, and fallen for, at a Jensen dealer in the 70's.

I can't wait to hear your driving impressions once the engine is sorted and running again.

We have now removed 'everything' from the front to allow us to take out the worn cam.

As I had a large pile of bits I decided to take them to a local soda blasters.

Really please with the results and looking forward to getting verything back together.

Heads have gone off to be skimmed, valves removed and new stem seals ordered.

Still suprised at the state of the lobe & lifter on Inlet No.1.

Junk that old 4 barrel n stick a sixpack on it

hey make sure you get a couple of bottles of zinc additive, make sure all your levels are good to go fire it up keep the revs around 2,500 and occasionally blip it up down for circa 20-30 mins, if its running a dual valve spring break it in on only the outer, some of these new cams can fck real easy matey
