More improvement.

Having got home early, set about tackling the lack of heatshield between bulkhead and cabin.

Pleased with the result.

More progress with the engine bay.

Just put the fan shroud together after powder coating.

New nuts,bolts,washers and rubber flaps.

Slowly improving the car...

Hi John,

What did you use to for the heat shield, and how easy/hard was it to do with the engine in place?. My heat shield is all gone now, and would like to get something in place before Turin.

Regards

Hi Kevin,

I used a product call Glassmat via EBay.

Lots of pipes to cut around so used cardboard as template.

I also used silver tape used on A/C To finish off edges.

Time consuming but worth it to tidy up.

Thanks John,

looks a bit thick at 20mm, not sure whether it will look right on my MK1. What's left of the original stuff is only about 6 or 7 mm thick.

Thanks anyw\ay

Kev.

Had a good blast around Dartmoor today and met up with a local CV8 owner.

Also managed to find a bit more horsepower !

Apparently not the only Volvo in attendance as well as a 1939(?) Standard drop head.
The C-V8 is the one that appeared in a Dunlop advert.

Thought I'd grab the opportunity to remove the wheel nuts

and let the missus take them to work.

Think they look rather good after a good buff on a jewelers wheel.

Taking them off 2 at a time with note on windscreen in case I forget !

Lovely, and very nice to see these original nuts with the "J".

They definitely look like a "J" when cleaned, and reminds me of a story of an owner who took his car in for a new set of tyres to be fitted. They saw the nuts, thought it was a symbol for a left hand thread, and proceeded to reverse the rattle gun and strip the threads to remove the wheels.........

Owch!

Cheers, Dino

Absolutely chuffed to get a 'highly commended' rosette at 37th Bristol Classic Car Show.

Still more bits and bobs to sort out under the bonnet but the jobs get smaller
