My Early Mk3 Interceptor Restoration project
Re: My Early Mk3 Interceptor Restoration project
After taking the car for a New Years spin I finally
got around to fitting the engine plaque.
Although probably not fitted to 1972 cars I like the detail.
Nice to make small improvements once the large ones have been
overcome.
When does it ever end?

Never I guess. You will end up using a dedicated screwdriver to clean the grooves in the tyres. And you would want yet another new engine ID plate to make sure the inscriptions are bang right in the middle instead of offcentre like you have now.Pymmie wrote:Nice to make small improvements once the large ones have been

Any reason as to why 72 cars and onwards wouldn't have had these fitted?Pymmie wrote:Although probably not fitted to 1972 cars I like the detail.

It’s been a while since I posted anything in this thread.
As it’s a digital history of the car since 2010 here’s an update.
Did around 550 trouble free miles on the JOC Spring Break in Wales in
mid May.
Great weather & driving roads , highlight was driving through Portmerion.
Still doing around 2,500 miles per annum.

Also decided to try revealing more of the chrome on the gauges after
seeing the post by ‘Oxymoron’.
Pleased with the new look and always wondered why there was a
black rim.

Re: My Early Mk3 Interceptor Restoration project
Another cosmetic upgrade carried out this morning.
Really like the look of the blue wheel centres against the paint.
(Yes I know they should been deep red / burgundy)

Another Saturday morning upgrade.
Original Lucas fan replaced with Toyota MR2 unit.
Definitely quieter and more powerful.
Straight swap , just 3 self tapers to hold in place

I see you have the lug nuts with the 'J' on them. Pretty sure only the '72 cars had them.

Re: My Early Mk3 Interceptor Restoration project
I see HP pushed in numbers. How about that great feeling on going back in the seat Torque face it we have 4000lb car or more without the driver. With 3 people the Interceptor is pushing 4,700 on the average. Most cars numbers are closer to 3000 lb. if you ever drove a run about boat one person can make a huge difference love all the picks
