At last--1971 Mk. II Interceptor Delivery!
Nine days after purchase, my 1971 Interceptor was delivered today. I'm very glad I used enclosed shipping for the 450 mile run from North Carolina to Annapolis, MD. Car arrived in great shape, and was carefully handled by the driver in unloading. I posted some pictures earlier when I inspected/test drove the car last week, so here's how it looked today. I'm really liking the "Reef Blue" color! Annapolis Interceptor owner Tim Waller joined me for the arrival, and again provided much good advice as we got the Interceptor out on the road for an initial drive--and first fillup! Air conditioning worked great on a 90+ degree day here in Maryland, and the temperature gauge was stable--no overheating. Encountered a couple of rattles as the engine ran, discovered the clock is not working but the car started right up, ran well and accelerated nicely on the highway to 65 mph with the A/C running stress free.
After a few more drives I plan to take the car in for a safety checkup to ensure no surprises on the road.
I'm even happier today than when I first purchased the Interceptor, and feel the year plus long search was worth it to find the right car. Here are some photos from today to go along with those I posted last week.

What a beautiful car and terrific colour scheme.
Here in the UK, petrol is about the equivalent of $9-00/US gallon, so don't feel too bad about fuel prices.

It's great to see it arrived safe and sound. The Mk2 is quite a rare beast so nice to see such an excellent and well cared for example. I have been enjoying your pictures. Can't have too many on here as far as I am concerned!

Re: At last--1971 Mk. II Interceptor Delivery!
Enjoyed the opportunity to connect with Jake at Martin Robey, who confirmed they did have the production records for my Interceptor. I ordered those documents as well as the Statement of Origin, both of which were quickly dispatched and arrived in good shape. Below is a photo of the materials I received. The production documents were interesting on the evolution of the build, testing and corrections made prior to delivery. Of note was that the buyer changed the interior color from Blue to Beige during the build process as reflected in the two "Car Particulars" cards.
I also had a maintenance reset done on the car, to ensure it will run safely and reliably. After calling about ten shops in the area--most with no interest--I tried a recommended local garage that specializes in British cars and had worked on Interceptors in the past. They were willing to take it on and got me in quickly. No major problems were noted, other than some aging fluids, gaskets and a few leaks. I was getting a metallic rattling while accelerating through the low RPM range, and that seems to have been resolved through adjustments/resecuring the torque converter and exhaust. Next is an A/C recharge--its working, but not blowing as cold as the updated Sanden unit should.
Next later this month will be a full detail of the car--more photos then.
slotcarone: Yes--Tim sent me the announcement for Jensen East 23--I have it on the calendar!
