Interceptor II - 125/5148
Re: My New Interceptor - 125/5148
I thought blue was for a different Interceptor. Not sure to be honest. I'll use them until I get a new set. These look a tad rough and one is broken. I was only able to get three on the car.
If it is red, I will look to buy a set soon. Cheers.

Brilliant Thanks Mike, I believe you now ..Therefore they carried the Mk2 Stamped out(for the repeater) wings onto the Mk3 Model on the early Mk3 Cars, but only on the export models..Very crafty, get the wings used up

Hi Jon:
Welcome on board...that is a great looking car.
As RockyUSA has mentioned we are trying to drum up business for a trip to Telluride, CO in late September. Please take alook at this event: https://tellurideautumnclassic.com/
We are trying to rustle up 6 Interceptors and 6 Healeys to join us......I have a relationship with the meet coordinator and he is welcoming our collective entry.
We have a facebook page for the Western Region https://www.facebook.com/groups/301970565109060. Pls join up and wander through the years of classic car memories with us.
Where abouts in the Denver area are you (my assumption)? My son and his family are in Wheat Ridge.....I know you bought the car in the Denver area....
Let us know your thoughts about Telluride and also other events you might like to attend.....
Best,

Re: My New Interceptor - 125/5148
Thanks Tony, I am interested in Telluride. I want to make sure the car can make the trip with no issues, but I think I have enough time to sort everything out. Mostly, just get comfortable with the car on longer trips, especially through the mountains. It sounds fun and it is something I've never done before, with any car. I currently live in Aurora, only been here for just over a year.

Re: My New Interceptor - 125/5148
Good day Everyone.
I ordered and received a new aluminum radiator, with fans. While I feel fairly competent to change the radiator I am not past asking for any tips and tricks. The more info I have, the better.
The radiator arrived yesterday and I did a side-by-side look at everything. The wires for the fans have connectors I did not see on the car. So, I ordered new wires to replace what is on the car. I plan on replacing much of the old wiring as it looks like a complete mess by whoever worked on it before me. There are house wiring nuts being used!!!
I did search through the forums for a bit to find information, but there is a lot out there.
A couple basic questions...
Coolant? What do you use?
Anything to worry about, or know before I start removing the radiator and hoses? The hoses look relatively new and hoping I can reuse them. Are radiators on our car typically easy to remove/intall?

Re: My New Interceptor - 125/5148
I can't help you with the radiator install but you asked about antifreeze. These cars only require a typical green cheap antifreeze. You should get the 50/50 pre mixed as this has the correct type of water mixed with it. You can also use an antifreeze called All Makes All Models which is clear. Either way spend a few bucks more and get the 50/50 mix. As for hoses if you have a flex type hose on top you can get a hose made by Gates number 24043 which is common here in the states. You will have to cut a bit off of one end but works great and looks better. Does the new radiator have the filler neck like the original?

Great advice Slotcarone!
Re: My New Interceptor - 125/5148
I've always been anti-50/50. But, I keep seeing this suggestion so I will try it out. The radiator appears to have the same filler next as the original. I went with Alicool. I preferred their options of having it with fans installed and powder coated in black. It really looks great.
When I get to work I will take photos and share how it goes.

Congratulations! This is a beautiful looking Interceptor. I spoke with the dealer a couple of times to get information about the car, but had not been able to get out to Denver to check it out. Nice you're able to keep it local.

Running behind on an update. I bought a new aluminum radiator, with sone nice fans and cowl. Being in Denver at a high elevation I am happy for more airflow. After it arrived I went through to see what carries over the car and what will have to be changed. Mostly, it was the wiring. There was a lot of fix as we installed the new radiator. Some of the hardware would not survive being removed.
Some of the janky wiring we fixed along the way.

Old fans out. One of the fans was replaced at some point. And not sure what happened, but it was chewed real bad. The old metal fan looks great. Not sure what I will do with it, but I will hold to it for something.
