it's been a while since I haven't posted about the Interceptor.

I bought it in june 2020 but I did not use it a lot with the exception of the return trip from north to south of France (600 miles or 1000 kilometers).

When I bought the car there were some issues that had to be solved. It did not pass the french technical control (equivalent to MOT) because of few points easy to solve:
- 2 worn tyres
- 1 broken seatbelt
- one out of order front light

These points were easy to solve and I had the registration done by mid august.

Some bad points with this car were:
- the brakes system was not working properly;
- the were some rusty points in some areas (mainly arround the de rear glass; at the bottom of the driver's door and, to my fear, at the bottom of the passenger rear wing) - beside this, the frame was solid and it was was nice looking at a distance of arround 2 meters
- the worst part was the trim with worn leather on the rear (maybe a dog played in the car) and a retrim of the front seats that was made with leatherette: A lot of job to come.

photos of the trim:

first thing to do was the improve the brakes system.
then I expected to take care of the trim and, finally of the bodywork
I has the servo and master cylinder replaced. It works better but not has well as I expected. I had a Series3 jaguar XJ with almost the same system and it was better: the pedal still seems too smooth .

Unfortunately, when the car was in the garage, my mechanic crashed the car...

not a big crash but quite serious indeed:

the strange thing is that the bonnet did not have any damages

so the schedule has to be changed...
*of course the front extention was crashed ane the radiator too (The airco is still working!)

coachbuilding is now the first point to solve.

First option was to repair the crash and do other stuff afterwhile but, the car has to be repaired, so I decided to solve the rust issues and then, repaint the car.

Its original colour was Brasilia (I don't like it!) the the work is in progress...

1 month for the front part (all was done in the old way without changing parts with the exception of the bumper (i had the change it and I had ordered a new one before the crash!)

The good point was that the frame is in a very good shape.

The weak points are numerous! there was an old crash on the front left side (some nice work for the coachbuilders!) and there was a rust issue arround the windscreen.

but the worst part was the frame arround the rear glass: there were more holes than steel!!! this part had to be rebuilt.

Jean-Philippe

A very interesting collection of cars
Sorry to see the recent damage to your Jensen although it perhaps has allowed you to now focus on the bodywork
I hope that the car is ready for your use soon and you are able to enjoy in the Spring and Summer

I am trying to record the history on all Jensen Interceptors
Do you have a Chassis Number for your car?
If i have any earlier information on your car i will share with you although being left hand drive i do hold less information generally

Stay safe and well

Kind regards
