Re: JLO 78K 128/4382
I remember wanting to paint my car a purple back in the 90's and everyone talked me out of it back then. And let me tell you, looking at your car, you hit the shade of purple that I was thinking of (bummer).
Hmmm... just my opinion (FWIW), your leather interior looks perfect - I'd keep that colour as is, but I'd try to get some lilac / purple colour carpets to really complement the paint, then edge them in a leather to match your trim. The contract of dark carpet / light leather should look well.
We're so lucky to be in the 21st C nowadays - for the roof, go to a place that does vinyl wrapping (I think some even do vinyl spraying???), and have them experiment with a white vinyl wrap roof - won't break the bank???
If it was blue, I'd stick a Union Jack on the roof (or the entire car) in vinyl wrap.......
Cheers,
Dino

Great colour, love it.
I would leave the leather as it is.
Personally I don’t like the white wall tyres but that’s just me, I know a lot of people like them.

My opinion? White coachlines - yes. Otherwise leave the paint as is, as least for now, you can always change it later if you decide to. It's making a bold statement with that colour, don't dilute it.Krusty wrote:now i need to decide on a couple of things and hope you guys and gals can help
exterior
white coachline ?
white painted roof ?
white vinyl roof ?
interior
keep beige (get trimmer to clean and feed etc) and new beige carpets
dye red and fit red carpet
black everything
or
"other suggestions" but remember its funky 1971
Same again with the interior, leave as is for now and see how you feel later. Making a hasty decision now may be a mistake.

White painted roof not vinyl, no pinstripe, keep the interior but feed it etc just have some new floor mats made in a similar purple bound in the same colour as the seats, looks smashing

Best idea so far. I would wrap the roof though, def not vinyl, and keep the interior just feed it. I like Dino's Union Jack idea, but with the colours shifted so that blue is purple, and the red shifted. You could also try the roof silver, or black/white chequered flag. The roof can wait though.cannonball wrote:White painted roof not vinyl, no pinstripe, keep the interior but feed it etc just have some new floor mats made in a similar purple bound in the same colour as the seats, looks smashing

I'd leave it plain purple, definitely not a vinyl roof and if you do have to go with white, just wrap the roof. Can't be that expensive.

If the interior is close to white with no yellow in the beige, it will go well with purple. Just don't mix it with bright white anywhere else. I'd pick purple carpets as they won't show the dirt.

£960 for front seat bases repaired and the whole interior cleaned and re-coated was money well spent.
very happy with the results shame the paint went wrong

cleaning the tank was an epic fail as i kept an eye on both filters .....
so we dropped the old one then we cut it open
to the right of the hole in the next photo is a handfull of the contents
did this cause the smell of petrol ?
and this is what we drained from the tank
remember its a gallon ish of fuel in there

Holy cow ....
Looks like the old colour underneath.
How far was it taken back before being primed.
Feel for you

Re: JLO 78K 128/4382
, how sad Krusty, .. Too much old material underneath the new paint, , it happened to our convertible years later when left in a hot storage area, most painters will only use one system, ie ICI primer, basecoat and laquer, or Glasurit system etc and only put it onto a prepared shell without the old paint underneath, this way they can be 99% sure no reaction will happen, but, this as I am sure you will know means a bare metal re-paint and all the sculpturing that goes with it on a Interceptor, otherwise this sort of thing can happen, the new coats of paint liven up all the existing coats underneath which causes sinking in the future and maybe/inevitably reactions to the finish coat like you are now suffering .. I really feel for you Krusty , it's so sadly annoying

The interior looks totally fantastic. Well done finding someone to sort that!
