Hi Everyone!
TVY 693, a Mk 3 Interceptor, has been mentioned previously on these forums and has been around the houses quite a few times having had 16 owners in its life! For those of you wondering where she ended up and how I know this, well I was the one who last bought her in a somewhat "rusty" state and she is now close to being complete. Indeed, last month I had the pleasure of driving 300 miles in her, her first long journey under her own power in over 30 years and spent most of the time with a silly grin on my face! Last bits to do include sorting out some niggles and restoring her original number, items that are in hand. I'll hopefully contribute something to the magazine when she is finally finished with a lot more photos of the project! She's been repainted in California Sage metallic, not her original colour, which was Havana, nor the colour she was bought in, red (!), which was, in my opinion, hideous!
Lots of folk to thank for helping me get her this far, not least Roman from Car Second Life who is a fabrication expert of the highest order, cannonball, from these forums, who gave me the opportunity to buy her, Stuart Turner from the JOC, for inspections and verification, John Lane, for helping me with getting her original identity back, Keith Jackson from Martin Robey and Richard Calver for helping with identification and documentation.
Anyway, some photos to show you how she turned out with the first one showing how she was to start with!
Tim

You've a good looking car now, the red I agree looked awful, and Roman certainly knows his stuff. Enjoy driving it, I still have a silly grin on my face after 5 years of ownership.

Absolutely gorgeous, and the paint goes well with the window tint. Was the bonnet ajar in some pictures, or is there some more fettling to be done? The flamboyant side mirrors are rather stylish in my opinion, and quite unusual.
I like the contrast between the solar panels on the house to save fuel, and the 7.2 litres of Chrysler on the drive!

"Now that chassis number is particularly interesting ‘cos it’s the one after the one before, which is the one after mine, not many people know that"

Ah VFK44! There’s no pulling the wool over your eyes! The bonnet has new rubber seals that seem to prevent latching on both sides. You are absolutely correct in that is one of the areas that need fettling. The irony of solar panels versus 12mpg wasn’t lost on me either!
The final paint job was done by Jamie Hannah of West End, Southampton. A top chap who really finished off the paint to a very high standard.
Most of the fittings for the car are original. Roman tried to keep it that way and there were only a few modern items installed including a retro radio; the original 8-track player was dead and whilst I looked for a suitable replacement, I eventually came round to thinking a modern retro would more than suffice. I also had Roman include a double Bosch fan system to try to cool the engine compartment. The mirrors were factory fitted originals and frankly, are fairly useless but add to the 1960s-1970s quirkiness of the car so they had to stay!
Thank you all for the kind comments!

Might be! The photo was from a previous life! My steeds these days are built by Airbus! Visited your part of the world in the 1990s when I was lucky enough to go to the Boneyard and the following day Pima. Fantastic experiences!RockyUSA wrote:Great looking car, and I like your avatar, too.
