I recently became the keeper of this 1970 Interceptor MK2 123/3854, having wanted one since the early 1970s, when I saw one on holiday In France as a child. It was sat next to us in the queue for the Ferry home and had steam gently rising from the engine bay!

My example has some features of the Mk3 model, as previous owners have adapted the car to their tastes.

The most obvious are the Mk3 wheels and wing side vents to the exterior.

On the interior it has had re upholstered Mk3 front seats and centre console controls installed.

The door trims have also been re upholstered, but the rear seat has an original looking patina.

The car was also re painted in Jaguar Ultra Blue Metallic in 2016 for the previous owner, when a new windscreen and all new rubber window and door seals were also installed.

Looking at the history file, a replacement, rebuilt 6.3 V8 engine was sourced from the USA in 2003 and the car certainly gets down the road very well!

My first task is to source some replacement tyres as the Pirellis currently fitted are over 15 years old!

I think it also has a Mk3 dash fitted, probably at the same time as the centre console.

Yes, I think amongst the paperwork there's an invoice for a good used Mk3 dash, supplied by Rejen.

That makes sense. According to the chassis data book yours was the last car with the 2-vent Mk2 dash.

Got the Interceptor out of the garage to give it a spring clean today.

I might start to use it for the "essential" shopping run and to deliver food parcels to my quarantined mother and brother!

I received copies of the factory paperwork for my car from Martin Robey today.

It is nice that the car is still on it's original number plate.

It was supplied to Hughes of Beaconsfield as a "Demonstration Car", finished in Tangerine, with a black interior and with air conditioning and a Voxson stereo.

It looks like my car had quite a few warranty claims in it's first year, initially for it's first owner, Hughes of Beaconsfield and then for their customer, a local Company called Dage Limited, who subsequently must have purchased the car as an "ex demo"!

Replaced in the first year were the steering rack, radiator, front wheel bearings, horn relay, light and wiper switches, fan relay due to overheating, the alternator and various other issues sorted out.

The rear tailgate had to be stripped, welded and repainted, due to cracking and a letter from Jensen queries the cost of this work as being excessive at £38.50! :o

The Voxson stereo also had to be repaired or replaced, as it was "playing two tracks at once" and the electric aerial failed! :D

It's nice that the first owners were called Hughes, as that's my surname too! 8)

I've been clearing my shed out and found the remains of my air con system.
The previous owner removed it from the engine bay and this was all that was left.
It was in an oily sack in a box, in the boot of the car when I bought it and has been in the shed ever since.
It looks like I will need to replace it with an all new system!

Yesterday I fired up an old desktop pc that I haven't used for a few years, to retrieve some old files and looking through the old screensavers and backgrounds on there I found one labelled "Jensen MK2"

I opened it up to find a picture of my current car in it's previous paint colour, which was downloaded onto the pc in 2013, a full 6 years before I bought the car or even knew of it!
