A well known Interceptor heading back to the road in 2019

When I joined the JOC prior to buying my first Interceptor, Alan and Jean Smith's Royal Blue coloured Mk111 Interceptor registration number RRW347M was THE car - not least because it was used extensively during Alan's period as JOC Chairman. I remember Alan and Jean allowing me to drive it briefly at a classic car parade (on the grass next to the runway at Kemble Airfield) - 'spin the wheels to please the crowds' said Alan. As you can imagine, the experience and Alan and Jean's generosity is a lasting memory.

Fast forward a decade and more later, I became the custodian of RRW347M, utilising part of my early retirement lump sum to buy it and entrust Colin Holley of CH Autos to carry out a full body restoration in the same vein as the success he achieved with my other Jensens.

So, with RRW's panel work now complete and heading for paint soon, I thought I'd post a few pictures of it in its pomp and it's restoration journey.

Looking forward to seeing it return to the road sometime in 2019.

I managed to deliver a new windscreen, without damage, to CH Autos yesterday.

Below are a few pictures of my car in its fresh new paint. I do believe I'm starting to get a tad excited!

Thanks Dave. The original colour was Yellow, but I always wanted a Mk111 the colour it is now.

Off today to reunite the car with most of its refurbished interior and take some more pictures. Beginning to feel like I own the car....even though I haven't paid Colin Holley yet!!

I'm so glad this car is going to be back on the road after so long (even if it's a completely different colour). It was such an important feature in the JOC when Alan was Chairman and I look forward to seeing it at next year's International in Wiltshire.
