Post by Daniel Kriegsmann »

Hi guys ,

I am a new member , my name is Daniel 32 years from Hamburg and my car is a jensen Interceptor Mark II LHD original German delivery from Munich Auto König

It s definitely not a trailer queen, more rough condition but it s almost free of rust issues , ok the tail Gate is dead but the Rest of the Body is in pretty good shape

Welcome aboard Daniel,

If you don’t know the original specifications & numbers
post your chassis number as a few of us have chassis books.

You will find plenty of useful info from the members of the forum.

Welcome to the forum and I assume you are getting into restoring it now. I have also a MK2 LHD in case of questions.

Greetings from Frankfurt

Start dismantling , the Struds of the surround fix plate were gone

Sealings from the front window and cabin are all dead and the tailgate is just a piece of rust

Looks like you will find more challenging body work more downward.

If you need any help, just let me know.

Yes it’s a challenge you are totally right Joerg

Looks pretty rust free under the rocker moldings and windshield gaskets. Very lucky to find that! :)

Yes the last movement was in 2001 I think and during that time till today it was kept in a dry Garage till I found it

Till up now the body is in really good condition, checked the fenders and they are solid could be that someone renewed them .... I saw great rust issues from other cars for example on the inner fenders and everywhere downwards and I am happy that the metal work would not be the greatest thing on my project .

May be it s The rest of the car – bushes brakes springs hoses nearly everything has never been touched since manufacturing

Engine was tested
Measuring compression everything fine - Transmission seems to be shifting normally

Tranny and engine removed - edelbrock carb on it but the original carb is already in here

- the removement of the doors was a nightmare the Head Screws were so tight

Made 20 new screws for the Doors with a Torx Head in stainless steel
with my I dont know if its the correct word for "lathe" in german drehbank

new tailgate from martin robey ordered

cheerio

Daniel.. I love Mk2's, they are my favorite modelImage, I have 2 of them and have one of them for nearly 30 years, they were the best models using the best steel etc and... it looks like you have a lovely car there , but.. do yourself a favor..Cancel that order of a tail-gate and repair what you have.. believe me.. the new tailgate will not fit.. it will look terrible and cause you a nightmare trying to make it fit.. it won't fit and never willImage.. repair your one

Can only support Grant´s statment. Never buy a "new" tailgate, it will spoil the restoration result.

Re the tailgate, they were handmade for each car and a lot of them have the chassis number stamped into them..
