Thank you! It comes from your side of the world ( Vancouver, Washington ), were it has recided since at least 1979. It will arrive Gothenburg in Sweden around mid May, so I have a long wait ahead of me. The plan is to get it registered and on the road immediately and hopefully then be able to drive it over the summer to get a feel for what it needs. Then after a couple of months, I want to commision a restoration with some modifications to make the car more usable and reliable. Living in Spain presents the possibility to actualyy enjoy your classic all year around. Moore will follow. At them moment, I am trying to find out more about the car, and I am wondering what information can be found in Jensen company records.

Numerically it is the 7th LHD MK3 built and one of the first batch of LHD Mk3's to leave the factory booked out on 25/08/1971.
Originally Silver Grey body colour with Black roof and Red interior. Went to USA.

Chris!
I am with you on the number of the car, and it being in the first batch Mk3´s ( 11 cars shipped ) going to USA. But according to information I had from another member, the company records state silver with red leather and black vinyl roof. The car still has the original vinyl roof, with sideburns, and the orginal unrestored red leather interior. According to the second owner, already the first owner repainted the car to black. That was done before 1979 I was told.

That looks a really nice car, and hopefully useable straight out of the box. I'd be wary of using it and then going for a full restoration, as they end up being off the road for years, as even the smallest jobs can take a remarkable amount of time, and the owner then loses the enthusiasm. I suggest do small jobs one at a time, and enjoying the car in between.
The interior looks really nice, with its years of use and creases, don't be persuaded to have it re trimmed, the original leather will respond to some TLC, feeding, re-colouring etc, and will look better than any retrim could achieve.
It has to be torture knowing you've got one, and having to wait until May to play with it.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Your car looks really nice the way it is! Think about keeping it in it's original condition and not restoring as there are fewer and fewer original cars out there every year. You can restore a car many tines but it is only original once!! :)

You are probably right. At this point I have not seen the car, and I think I am mentally preparing myself to be disappointed on its condition. I have yet to buy a car described as rustfree, and find it actually rustfree. I am also a die hard Alfa Romeo fan

The interior looks really good, and if it can be saved, I will definitly do that. I will in any case want to change the color, since its not original anyway. Its my first Jensen, and I have been reading a lot about them over the past years, and it is my understanding they are not terribly reliable, and respond very well to upgrades. I am a classic car fan since many years, and actually always drive my classics as every day cars. So I like to make sure the car gets me were I am going. I also feel that if the original parts are kept, and a future owner can return back to original spec, then the integrety/history/orgininality of the car is not lost. After all, I have the view that a car is an object to used and enjoyed.

Lets hope the car is so good it does not need a lot before I can use it!

What a lovely looking car - with such an original looking leather interior in super interior.

I agree with previousa posts. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. To change the colour (and certainly change) the interior would be criminal. Unfortunately there are too many cars out there with cheap retrims. Others with expensive retrims which look cheap. From what I can see, you just need to buy some leather feed to keep the interior supple, especially in your hot climes. Perhaps the drivers seat base may need new seat webbing, maybe, just maybe, some new foam in the base, but I wouldnt rush to do that either. Great to see it still fitted with the original Learjet 8 Track too - and no 1980's plastic speakers cut into the door cards. Why not leave the 8 track in situ and if you want a modern stereo, hide it away to keep the period look. That way you hopefully wont damage the centre console leather hauling the old stuff out?

Cooling upgrade, fuel system check, maybe carb rebuild, brake system check, new tyres if they're old would be my starting point beyond a major service. But certainly avoid a major restoration if you can - I've seen a number of cars ruined by well intentioned restoration 'specialists'......with bits and bobs left over or lost after supposed completion.

Just my opinion, other's will differ. Just take your time, I'm sure the driving and owning experience will be worth the wait.

Phhooey Rubbish.
How about 29 cars driving up to 2,000 miles round trip from all over Europe to Turin for the 50th Anniversary tour in 2016 with only one breakdown which was a gearbox failure and one other major problem that got fixed but was caused by a faulty NEW part that had been fitted. How about driving over 800km in a single day in an Interceptor (don't ask why that was necessary   )? Or driving over 500km across Northern France in less than 4 hours (not all Autoroute).
How about around 70 cars driving from all over Europe to meet up in Saxony last September? Only 1 terminal failure which was a broken exhaust manifold.
Kevin Birch who has already contributed in this thread did both trips. As did I. I drove from London to the Rhein winelands, across to Prague then to Chemnitz before coming back via Hook of Holland. 2,155 miles round trip for me. Others drove out through some of the worst rain experiences in a long time and got there. Both Kevin's and mine are very original cars. Just 2 among many others original and upgraded of all types. Unreliable? Only if they're badly maintained or left unused in the garage for months on end.
As with anything, you only really hear about the people who have problems, you don't hear about all the ones that don't. You'll hear the report about someone who set out on a journey and broke down. How many times does someone put up a social media post that says "I set out and got there". Good stories are not interesting stories as nothing exceptional happened.

Another thing I wonder about is the center console layout, and what all the buttons and switches are for? The ones next to the gearselector looks to be for the electric windows. But then there are 2 further buttons that looks the same behind them, and then 2 further buttons ( one cig lighter?) behind that, just forward of the cubby hole.

And the full row of buttons above the Learjet player: Can someone tell me what they all do?

Ohhh........whan I say change color, I mean on the outside. The red interior was actually why in the end bought the car. LOVE a red interior..To change that is not going to happen.
Many of you seem to be for keeping as much as possible. If I can, I will. And all original parts will in any case stay with the car.

I was by the way told that the 8 track works just fine, and that a lot of tapes will be found in the boot !
