Mk 3 Interceptor 1974
Re: Mk 3 Interceptor 1974
It is a good idea Karan,, much better than the original set up, but, for me I like some of the stuff that was on old Interceptors and although this is a much better design from every angle doing away with those dangerous rubber tubes etc, I sort of really like those old original pots..but, you do whatever you want Karan, I have seen these resrvoirs fitted before to that master cylinder on a few Interceptors..You do your thing Romeo!!

First impressions Karan are that while the single reservoir looks neater than the original set up, you've got less spare fluid capacity - either to spill on the exhaust and cause a raging fire....or help you stop if the system develops a leak.

I think it would be good to fit the modern reservoir as long as you are not an originality freak like me.
Ive even thought of doing it myself as those original reservoirs are awful, its will save leaks and look less fussy than 2 remote pots.
What is the new part from just in case I decide to do this one day. I did have a part number for I think a Rover part but cant remember what it is now.

Having a VW and Audi emblem on the reservoir in plain sight for everyone to see when the bonnet is open is not a nice thing to have. It should not matter of course and if you use the car much then the positive (no leaks, bigger reservoir?, easier to see the level) will weight more than that one slightly negative point.
For the last 12 years I have a plastic BMW header tank, with BMW script, on my Jaguar 420 because the original header tank was rusted beyond a possible repair, and new ones are not available. It annoys me each time when I see it. Shows I make a fuss of unimportant things. Hope most people are not like me.

Re: Mk 3 Interceptor 1974
A very important advantage for a modern reservoir is that it is very easy to fit an adapter on these reservoirs in order to bleed the brake system with overpressure.
This is not possible with the original covers because they give way under compressed air.

I’ve used a Rover SD1 reservoir, fits perfectly and has a fluid level tell-tale too.
