My C V8 now in for a full re-spray

Post by monk1483 »

Stripped the Jensen down over the last few days, now dropped off at the paint shop.

They only have to remove the boot lid, doors and bonnet.

Not fully decided yet, depending how the colour swatches turn out, either Selenite Grey or Pallodium Silver.

Both are modern Mercedes colours, I want the colour to complement the chrome on the C V8 rather than it just blending in.

Mike

The pictures make the car look far better than it is in reality, the paint is very flat and cracks in the paint are all over the car.

Yes, it is being took back to gel coat.
It will be blocked back dry so as not to introduce any moisture to the body.

Been for a visit to the paintshop today to check out a piece of trim I have had made.

They have made a start, up to now nothing horrendous has come to light.

The reason why I went down to the shop was to see if this piece of trim I am having made fits. Pleased to find that it does, now to return it so it can be finished and polished up.

Seen these fitted to series 3's , brilliant idea as it saves the fuel filler nozzle chipping the paintwork.

great idea on the trim. I think I'll copy that one. Was this standard on a mk3?

Yes, it was standard on a Mk3.

I bought one only to find the filler caps on the Mk3 are smaller so they don't fit a Mk2 :(

Hence why I am having one made from stainless steel. I shall be selling the Mk3 trim at some point as it is no use on mine.

Any chance to reproduce a few more??
I am interested to have one and I am sure some others will be also.

I anticipated that one or two owners might want one.

I already asked the chap who is making mine if he would not mind doing a few more. He has no problem doing some others, but wait until he has finished mine. I will then post a picture of the finished product and I'll have an idea of the price.

They will not require chroming as they are polished stainless steel.

Anton,

Just noticed a C V8 Mk3 is in the list of Jensens that you own. Do you also have a Mk2, or do you need the trim for your MK3?

The ones I'm having made are for Mk2's only, they will not fit the Mk3. I do have an original Mk3 trim for sale if you need one.

Been to see the Jensen today, they are really cracking on.

Body been stripped back to gel coat and first coat of primer on. The bonnet and boot has had the first coats of colour (Mercedes Selenite Grey), after a bit more prep the clear coat will go on.

The bodyshop guys think the colour choice is spot on for the Jensen, have to wait to see what it looks like when fully painted.
