Should the transmission be black?

Shell should be finished soon - Suspension and most bits ready to bolt back on so should come togeather relatively quickly.

Hi Grant,

Roman did the bodywork for Tony. I think he has done a number of others so not sure if it is the one you saw?

Hello John

I just wondered the six pack you are using is that the mechanical one from America which works a different way to the original vaccum ones

Also the top footprint of them together isn't the same as the old 6 pack will you still be able to use the same air filter box or will it need modifying

Car looks very nice by the way

No problems Grant.

Yes NLG has been taken out to 512 cubic inches gas flowed heads etc. Makes about 500hp on the dyno - have not put headers and large bore exhaust on it yet so it is a bit strangled in the car.
When I have 3992 on the road i wil have the chance to give NLG a sympathetic restoration/repaint and will change exhaust system then.

Interceptor Brake upgrade stock wheels

Post by Joe Schiavone »

I intend this post to go to Intercepted Brake Upgrades. I have read about similar upgrades without similar results I used stock ventilated 10 3/4” discs with 87 XJS 4 piston calipers. I installed EBC Red Stuff brake pads which have more surface touching the pad than the Jensen Interceptor pads some people will say the Green Stuff are more aggressive. I installed a 1/4” spacer with mild grimding to allow the caliper to clear the wheel. I also did the necessary conversion for the hose going to the caliper. I used a 94 Ford 150 pickup truck with a slightly larger bore. Also all new lines with a rebuilt load conscious valve. I also left the rear load conscious valve fromFord. Had to make a small adjustment to the master spacer to the vaccume booster and a slight change in length to the actuation rod. At 60 MPH I have all the brake power anyone could ask for. Can lock the front wheels and modulate the braking with no rear lock up. My purpose was best braking with stock wheels and tires. RacerJoe

Yes it is one of Bruce Bridges bits of kit, seemed to be well proven.

Joe, info on brakes is very usefull, I will have to upgrade them.
Whilst i have a set of 17inch wheels to try I am not totally sold and would prefer to get the improved braking with out having to have the larger wheels.

Regards

John
