Rare Jensen GT in Devon

Post by Pymmie »

My friend David Balme has just acquired this Jensen GT

1640/30114 was 1st registered in Oct 1975.

It was recently rescued from Scotland by Tim Hatcher from North Devon.

After seeing Nigel Keisers GT ealier this year at Haynes , Somerset David knew he

wanted one and luckily Tim advertised this one just 1 hour away from Torquay.

Although slightly scruffy the car runs has an MOT and apart from the rear seat squab it's

all there.

David plans to use it and generally improve the car making the bodywork the last thing.

I popped around this morning to take a few photos and assess it's condition.

Funny thing is there's a C-V8 owner just two doors away!

Welcome to the mad world of Jensens David!

I wonder why the switch of coil location from vertical on the bulkhead to horizontal on the heater fan housing?

I'm liking the tan vinyl / tan corduroy interior. Very much of its time, and perfectly suited to the GT!

I think David said it's had electronic ignition fitted and the cables were too short.

Prepare to be a valuable source of help Nigel ...
