CV8 104/2300

Post by FFPL »

This has been going on for a while but I have 4 other Jensen's to also keep me busy. 104/2300 is going to be my fun car and, as it was modified a little back in the day, I'm going to continue on with that theme. I currently have the body off the frame and am converting this one to a tremec 5spd. I have fabricated 2 pedal boxes based on the one that Joerg did for his CV8 and the CAD drawing from Derek Chapman. I did 2 because my (16 yr old) son is getting interested in Jensen's and may just convert his MK1 interceptor to manual as well. I'll post some pictures of the pedal box shortly once I get them completely completed.

Here is a six pack install that was done in the 80's. Really tired at this point and not running. As it happens the block was cracked and one cylinder badly ice damaged.

and as it is today (I just picked it up yesterday). Original block (stitch repaired and sleaved) and the six pack that has been on here for a long time. But just about everything else is changed.

Here's a link to my engine builders facebook page which has a good series of progress photos (you don't need to have a facebook userid) https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 640&type=3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I want to try different air cleaners (a more traditional 6 pack one was on it when I got it). Here's a vintage 'Mr Norms' air cleaner. Not sure if I am going to use this one or not but it does allow the 6 pack to be seen which is the look I am after.

There is limited space under the bonnet, from my experience your setup is far to high - but I might be wrong .
I own some of the odd Jensen 8)

Yes it's going to be tight. The engine did come out of here in this physical form except that the pictured air cleaner is a little higher than the prior one. I have a lower profile filter that fits in the pictured air cleaner housing and if that fails to fit I can always go back to the stock SP air cleaner that was on the car when I got the car or have something made up. When the six pack was originally fitted (some 30 yrs ago) the bonnet bracing (reinforcing) was modified to allow it to fit. So I know it will go back in. I did measure it all before I removed the motor and I think I have about less than an inch available to me with that old filter housing. I have some templates I made up so I can tell how much space I had left and it's definitely tight.

I was looking at headers (making my own) and notice the design of the headers on your car. Do you happen to have these commercially available? It would certainly save me some work if you do.
