Rubbish! If the car is set up as it was originally intended, particularly the front wheel alignment, it will NOT wander at anything over 100mph!kees wrote:Up to 100mph is fairly comfortable. Above that the car starts wandering a bit and one should be careful.

Re: HEA4K.
Even when set up correctly with proper Koni shocks the J-H is not very steady over 100mph, aerodynamics are getting in the way and it gets a bit unstable. I have often taken my old J-H and my present J-H way over 100mph on the German Autobahn but it is hard work especially compared to more modern machines like a 17 year old Subaru Impreza (non turbo) which will do 120mph without drama and remains firmly planted on the road.
After all the J-H is a 45+ year old design based on even older Vauxhall underpinnings.

Comparing 4 wheel drive with 2 wheel, let alone almost twenty years difference in age and development is hardly relevant!
I believe you favour changing the front wheel alignment from toe-in to parallel? Not what was intended.

Re: HEA4K.
I recon (obviously I've not taken it out of the UK yet so I wouldn't know ) HEA is very stable up to 115 mph and showed no sign of wander, I would be confident to push it further but I want to check a few things first.
You know me, if it can do it I'll give it a go.

When you didn't do that, was the hood up or hood down?Trevithick wrote:I recon (obviously I've not taken it out of the UK yet so I wouldn't know ) HEA is very stable up to 115 mph and showed no sign of wander, I would be confident to push it further but I want to check a few things first.

Yes, but the Jensen-Healey was not made for the Autobahn, it was made for the alps.

Indeed it performs very well on the mountain roads, especially in the 5-speed model as first in the 4-speed box is a bit to long to start off on a steep hill or in very tight steep bends in a narrow track as I encountered at the scenic route during the last International. Speed had to be dropped to virtually zero and it was rather difficult to gain speed again in the 25%+ corner. I have the 4-speed box with the 5-speed rear axle fitted which did not help either.felixkk wrote:Yes, but the Jensen-Healey was not made for the Autobahn, it was made for the alps.
The roads in the Alps have much wider bends and speed can be kept up so there is no drama there. I really enjoyed the J-H in the French/Swiss/Italian Alps.

International Meet 2018 in Schwynzerland: October 2018 (https://www.joc.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=25799" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).
We'd love to have HEA4K here. And of course you also Mark . And you also Tony! And Kees! Anyway- if you do come Mark- I'd plan in an additional day or two for a couple of additional passes- it's quite addictive. I was speaking to Edy Preiswerk, a Healey owner and one of the founders of our club a couple of years ago about a heavily modified (performance-wise) Interceptor which was for sale. It belonged to the son of one the the Jensen dealers here in Switzerland, and was he was the only one who in the mountains could more or less keep up with the Healeys. Today the Healey faction are more sensible (many are long time owners), so we have no direct comparison.
