I have pulled this from my post on the Facebook Jensen Resto page. Thanks to Paul McElhinney for the introduction to Mark Rivron who sourced and mentored the purchase of TBY232L in May 2015. Mark also introduced me to a local firm who have taken on my restoration project as I do not have the skill set. What started out as a commission to address certain cosmetic issues has turned into a full blown Rejenesque style rebuild which hopefully will be completed Spring 2017. TBY232L was stripped to an empty shell by the engineers and bare metalled by Autostyl Truro. This process revealed a fairly solid car, I have replaced the passenger door skin and nearside rear quarter panel with Martin Robey parts as the originals were slightly less than perfect. Whilst the body work has been progressed the engineers have been addressing the remaining issues to include mechanicals, electrics and trim detailing. I am grateful for the assistance so far of Jason (Rejen), Martin Robey, Appleyards, S&T Plating, BlastClean Penryn, Kiley Clinton, Newquay Radiators, The Clutch & Gearbox Centre Penryn, Chapman Cliff, Knight Racing Services, RAM Gaskets, BCC, Textile Technology, BAS International, Car Builder Solutions and, Gaz Shocks. I have included a snapshot of some of the work to date. My first attempt at posting with attachments and i am struggling to get the images to load in date order

My Mk111 Restoration - 136/8620(TBY232L)

Post by Toby »

Work at Autostyl:
1. Body back to bare metal
2. Clean down body and apply 2K epoxy to protect
3. Replace nearside rear quarter panel, replace nearside door skin and address area of front spoiler and nearside front valence. Lead load areas as required and metal edge panels on the vehicle for good fit
4. Epoxy scuffed prior to filler application and shaping, again with panels attached to the car for best result
5.2K epoxy applied again to seal any bare metal and provide a good key to previous coat of epoxy
6. Slick sand spray filler applied of 2k epoxy and baked. Blocked to achieve shape and sharpness
7. PPG 2k primer applied and baked
8. Flat primer for topcoat
9. Apply sealer where required
10. Underside and engine bay thoroughly prepared before 2k epoxy primer applied before 2k Raptor topcoat
11. Apply 2k wet on wet sealer for colour uniformity and adhesion
12. Apply PPG Envirobase Reef Blue basecoat (water-borne)
13. Apply UC35 clearcoat and baked
14. Blocked previous clearcoat and apply UFC35 Flow Clearcoat and baked
15. flat and polish as required

Thank you BAR1, I hadn't intended a full restoration and have got a bit carried away. The commitment of those involved has encouraged me to absorb the pain and press on to build a car both they and i can be proud of. An idiom frequently used When i am presented with options "Don't spoil the ship for a ha'p'orth of tar"

Amazing work. I cringe at the thought of doing that wiring, but I think it's the smartest thing you can do.

I look forward to seeing more!

Thanks CF-105
Fortunately one of the team is old enough to have worked on Lucas electrics back in the day and is happy knitting all this together, he has also added some improvements to improve reliability and performance.

Hi Rocky,
Thank you for your supportive comments and advice. I eventually found the proper way of adding entries after a few attempts as you can see, it would be great if Zac could put this altogether for me. As i am new to this forum world how do i get hold of Zac to ask the question?
