Following the delightful local JOC get together on Sunday at Roadford Lake another trip out today on the Roseland Peninsular via the King Harry Ferry. We turned a few heads when we squeezed are way through St Mawes finding what appeared to be the only available parking space on the Quay. Pity the local garage was sold out of petrol or i think i may have been tempted at those prices

Took advantage of a weather window and had a trip down West to the Pendeen Watch, where in local vernacular there was "A bit of a blow"

Beautiful colour, that Daimler. Aren't you afraid to drive it much? Must be one of the lowest mileage examples in existence.
My brother picked up a Daimler Super Eight, not sure what it is officially called. The last beautiful Jaguar/Daimler Saloon (X308) in my eyes, more or less the same body as yours but with the supercharged V8. But I am not a fan of the 308 dashboard (plank of wood with individual holes for the gauges).

The colour is Cabernet Red Metallic which was one of the limited pallet available on the Century edition, you are correct I will have to protect the mileage, it will be used sparingly on local runs in the sunshine, if we get any. The car went straight from the production line into the the Jaguar/Daimler Heritage Trust collection where it remained until 2009 when the decision was made to send some of the collection to the Bonhams Auction that year. The first private owner entered club Concours events earning invitations to competitions at Windsor Castle, ST James's Palace and Hampton Court. The Gent i bought it off would attend car club events in and around Wales, but Covid and his wife's deteriorating health meant that it was getting no exercise and he reluctantly decided to find a new custodian and i am that fortunate person.

So lovely AndyImage, what a lovely thing to own being such low mileage and in such original condition, it's just a shear pleasure to own, so much better than looking a some numbers on a statement that gets posted to you and falls on the doormat!..Congrats AndyImage

Thanks Grant, that was the rationale in making the investment, my collection brings me joy and hopefully potential as a hedge against inflation with no Capital Gains Tax at this time

So Toby, you now have the perfect opportunity to compare two outside near identical vehicles. Chrome strips on the bumpers differ, as does the dash, and of course the V8 instead of the inline six.
Usually I feel comparing a car against its predecessor is pointless, of course the newer car will be better in many points, but here it is more of a case which kind of engine do you prefer.

Which car do you prefer?

<edit> I now see that you have a Super Eight, so one with the compressor. It would be unfair to compare this much faster car to the unblown six :D

Hi Dion,
To early to tell, i bought the Century for its rarity and the Super Eight for usability. Going forward the Super Eight will get more use as i would imagine it will be more entertaining to drive and i don't have to overly protect the mileage.

Car looking lovely.

Sadly I was handed the reins at the last minute and literally
had one reply on the Forum.

Ironically in the two weeks leading up to it I had quite a few calls.

It was around £17 per car in advance.
