Thank you, the finishing post is in sightRobinson D wrote:Marvelous restoration. That engine compartment is looking great.
Thank you, hoping to get tailgate and bonnet fitted in the near future together with underlay/carpets and interior trim, in the meanwhile there all those little detailing jobs to be done, air cleaner housing, wheel nuts, bonnet struts, aircon regassing et alCF-105 wrote:That is nigh onto perfect.
Bear in mind that this is a 440 whereas yours is a 383. The standard exhaust manifold was different on the 440 to the 383.rta50car wrote:Toby - I am currently restoring Mk 1 115/3227. I am planning to fit headers.
i'll send you a PMrta50car wrote:Toby - I am currently restoring Mk 1 115/3227. I am planning to fit headers. Were yours a one off or are they readily available ? If so did you fit them on after the engine was in situ ? Could you have fitted them first and still got them to clear chassis tubes as you lowered engine in ? Were you able to reach bolts to secure headers to block ? I notice you do have some clearance between headers and sidewall of engine bay. Your lower exhaust branch also clears the outside of your chassis tubes well which is good. My Mk 1 hopefully will allow same clearance on sidewalls. I was planning to have headers fabricated like you so that from engine exhaust outlets they bend down quite quickly to allow side clearance. What is the actual general exhaust pipe diameter ? I also noticed from one of your previous posts re your re springs being set too high. I had the same problem. I just requested a reset at 10mm but result was a clearance between top of rear tyre to wheel arch of 6 inches. Have had them reset and now sits at 3 inches unladen.
Thanks Gary,garyc wrote:Looking good Andrew
Putting the St.Steel trim on is very fiddly around the rear hatch. using the existing fixing plates
Good luck
