Sun Visors, Headliner and Rear View Mirror.... Help Needed

Can anyone tell me if the rear view mirror I have on my car is stock, as well as the sun visors?

I know the material / surface used on the headliner is not stock (from the few other cars I have seen), but I am wondering if the parts are correct.

The mirror is attached to a huge block of cast iron.

I haven't really figured out how the sun visors would attach to the roof structure.

There are "cards" above where the sun visor would mount that have been upholstered - the one has a piece of tape with my serial number (5597) on it....

Thanks -

Rocky

All Correct ChuckyManImage
The are small rubber ends that go on the ends visor pivots where you have them touching together in the pic in the middle there, mine went all perished and so I wrapped a piece of beige leather around mine to match the interior, these just stop the visor from keeping on swiveling down
On the other ends where they attach to the car there is a half round cover that covers up the fixings and swivel part, it is simply a piece of dished metal like 1/2 a ping-pong ball but smaller and held in place with a couple of pan head chrome screws..if you want or need a pic I'll take some for you My Ole Fruit :P
The Mirror and mirror base you have there are correct for a Mk3Image.."Steady on the way passed the Church ChuckyMan :)"

Thanks, Grant. I’d love to see a picture.

I don’t have anything around here to compare it too.

I do know that my wife and I would like to have functional sun visors!

Here's a few pics Rocky. A bit different on the center mount. Looks like you have an additional piece in there. :)

Thanks, SC -

I'll be out there in the garage checking things out now.

Appreciate the support. It looks like the little "pockets" (covers) shouldn't be too tough to fabricate. I just need to work out the sun visor attachment on the edges.

ChuckMan..well it looks like Mike has sorted you out with pics nowImage..Well done MikeImage
You may see now that you are better to use some leather maybe instead of the rubber ends as it marks the roof as they are 40 years old now and degraded somewhat :?

Grant - My steering wheel cover is only a clever ruse to prevent you from desiring it!

I do have a question on the sunvisors though, is it possible to hang them so that they block the sun coming through the driver/passenger window when you are driving north or south (and the sun is to your east or west)?

Based on looking at the brackets, and the clamp band and the rod geometry, it does not seem possible, but stranger things have happened.

Modern cars can do this, but this design only appears to flip down or up and block sun through the windshield.

Regards

Sorry Grant Mikeyman beat you to it! The visors do turn to block the side window too. And leave it to those clever Brits there is even a hook on the interior light that holds it in place. I bet nobody ever knew what those hooks were for! :)

You can never trust what your previous owner (PO) tells you…. In my case, it was a tale about all the shocks & bushings being replaced…

I think these rear shocks have been in place on this car since 1902…. They sure didn’t look they got a replacement in 2002 during the car’s refurbishment!

Anyway, I got the rear shocks swapped out!

One of my local AZ buddies said he had his done in 2 hours…. Mine took longer, but it was only my pace, and truly no major technical challenges…. Just sausage grinding…. Wood chopping.…

Anyway, all the heavy lifting is done, but I’ve still got some panels in the “boot” to reinstall….. tomorrow…
