Just to make it clear that calling someone "grumpy" is not intended to be an insult by me. I think every Englishman of a certain age should adopt a certain degree of grumpiness. The alternative of perpetual chirpiness and positive thinking is too ghastly to contemplate. Consider Chris Evans as a warning.

Not quite a nice as it looks in the photo, but I'm happy with it. Car is now at Appleyards for some bits and pieces to be sorted out.

I owned up to Sarah, luckily I think it was expected :D

Excellent news Zac, I was rather worried about your Jensenless condition. It's good to see that you quickly came to your senses and turned your, "I really quite fancy a C-V8", into a reality.

Those at the International may have noticed that my C-V8 didn't make it, As I was on my way to Turin Appleyards had collected it from the owner and MOTd it, Alan Smith then kindly picked it up from Appleyards with the plan of bringing it to the International. Unfortunately it broke down on the way back but was fixed by Alan and the AA man. It then broke down on the Friday morning on the way to the International, but ended up with an armed police escort  The police kindly stopped and put their warning lights on, they then helped to push the car into a lay by. The AA then recovered them back home and they came in the Jag. The problems were caused by a dodgy electric fuel pump.

Alan gave me a three page list of things wrong with it (not all urgent fixes), Alan has fitted one of the original mechanical fuel pumps and is doing various other things, luckily Robeys had some C-V8 rear springs on the shelf plus rear disks which are on their way down to Pale Classics who will fit them when Alan has finished with the car.

Hopefully there will be two Zacs at LeMans with C-V8s.

Photos to follow at some point (I still haven't seen the car :D )

Grumpy Zac :D

Rear end should be a little better with the new rear springs now fitted, Rob is half way through replacing the rear disks / pads and fitting better routed non rusty brake pipes.

Some more recent photos. Re-coring the radiator did the trick with running hot on the motorway, I drove up to Halifax on Saturday with no problems at all.

Nice reflection in Darren's 541

Pity the same couldn't be said of the way back after the Elland show on Sunday
I just got into the M62 at Ainley Top and the engine died. The RAC came out and found that a screw in the rotor arm had comeout which resulted in the arm seizing and caused the drive shaft to shear.

I now need to get the old distributor and bits back and get someone to fit them for me. Looks like I will be at Gaydon in the Volvo. Summit want the old one sent back before they will send a new one out. Should have got it from one of the UK suppliers....

Huge thanks to Rob Carter for bringing the old bits over and re-fitting them.

Thanks also to Sarah for pointing out that there were the chairs in the car we could have got out and sat on

Nice canal pictures. We've just agreed to purchase 1/5 share of a narrowboat (I'm having the part above the waterline!), and hope to stay overnight on it as a stopover before driving to Gaydon this Sunday.

The photos were next to the Premier Inn, Halifax South at Salterhebble Hill.

The moorings are an off-shoot of the Calder and Hebble Navigation.

My aunt lives in Hebden Bridge, we had a canal trip from Mirfield up to the end of the Rochdale Canal a few years back.
