115/2798 restoration update

Post by ginger_dave »

Hi y'all!

Just thought I'd post an update of work being carried out on my MK1 (UGN 42F).

I popped into the garage today to see the old girl is a few days away from having primer applied and, fingers crossed, a week or two away from having some paint.

Since buying the car last year, she's had a full seven month restoration -- I suspect I may be responsible for a soaring share price at Robey's. :)

The jewellery should be going back on shortly so, in advance, may I thank you for all the 'Can you name this part' messages I shall be posting in the coming few days...

D.

PS, I know the front valance isn't correct for a Mk1 but couldn't find one anywhere. I think the MK2/3 version looks much better, mind.

Hi chaps,

Well, the car finally had its paint job today. Long story short -- I was trying to locate Beluga grey or Thunder Grey but with no luck. Instead, I opted for a gunmetal grey reminiscent of that used by Aston Martin for the DB5 back in the day. Just got back from the garage. Here are some snaps.

You can add thin whitewalls to our 15 inch tyres, Mine are these on P4000's.

Think they are stainless, broke the Rover badges out and araldited the black enamel badges on. Smart alternative and have not lost one yet.
They were made for the wire wheel centre caps/spinners.

Looks fantastic! Can you tell me what colour name or code the leather is? Looks like it might be a Bridge Of Weir colour.

Hi Jorrocks,

So sorry for the delay. I honestly don't know the name of the interior.

The car was originally restored in California -- I think the seller may be a forum member, perhaps called Adrian. He should know.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
