Matador please help!!
Hi all
I am extremely new here so apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong section for help, advice or any information you may have!!
I purchased this off sambabus website within minutes of seeing the ad purely because it was different and because I had not seen one before, I have seen a few crew cab vw pick ups over the years they have all seemed to come out of the wood work and made it back onto the tarmac but I'd never seen anything quite this early and with what little searching I did I could find another one on of these, I have just been in conversation with Han Kamp and his not convinced from the badging that it is infact Jensen built however I thought I'd try my luck and see if anyone knows much about this truck. I went over to sunnyside Washington to view this after purchasing purely because I could wait to see it and I wanted a nice heads up if I had brought a heap! I was pleasantly surprised apart from 2 areas in the cab floor the body seems solid! There are a few gun shots going up the front of it and one bullet hole which has a exit hole in the engine cover. I will most probably be going for a patina'd look when restoring it as I want to actually use it for a pick up so a shinney paint job won't last very long. Everything that seems should be is there apart from when I get towards the rear and finding information on this is proving difficult there's a missing tail lamp which isn't the end of the world but the part proving more difficult is what appears to be a removable rear cab wall I have the glass window which was in it but the material used in the space seem to me like it was a canvas wrapped peice of extremely thick cardboard like material similar to loft installation boards? This is proving extremely difficult to find any information on and all the photos I have found of this model seem to have the big hole but nothing to fill it? And help, suggestions or other input will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for taking time to read.

Re: Matador please help!!
I acquired a wiring diagram for a Jensen Tempo from the internet.
Any use? I can get you a copy.

Re: Matador please help!!
This is a German car. Seems as if it has nothing to do with Jensen.
'Tempo' is the make and 'Matador' the model. They used different engines for their cars, from VW Beetle, Austin (A35) over to Heinkel. The make was taken over by Hanomag in 1965 which itself was taken over by Daimler-Benz in 1971.
Here's some more information...but only in German
Edit: Oooops, just forgot to post the link...

From the Dutch magazine but there are some pictures of the Jensen version.

But that won't be useful for that car...
The car on the pic isn't a Jensen. It's a Tempo.

Re: Matador please help!!
Christian,
With the greatest respect, Jensen Motors produced under licence from 1958 to 1961 a number of Tempo vehicles in a number of different arrangements .
Richard Calver's book, All the Models, pages 218 to 226 covers the subject in a good manner.
Whilst a Tempo , it may have roots in the Black Country.
A bit of a learn your Jensen history required?

Re: Matador please help!!
Hi Shaun,
I'm verry sorry for not knowing this. I remember these cars and never read about a relationship to Jensen. Even on the German club-website there's no information about it. Only that some cars were built under license in India. Is there any information about the number of cars built by Jensen?
As the most technical documents referring to these cars may be written in German, I'm willing to help if needed.
Learning never stops.

Re: Matador please help!!
Christian,
No problem. If you want to find out more about Jensen and all the things they were up to then get hold of a copy of Richard Calver's book All the Models. I think JOC regalia may still have some copies.it is quite a rare book now but it is a bible!
Cars, buses, lorries tanks etc.
Not cheap but very good value.
I thoroughly recommend it.
