Well today I fitted a new fuel pump to replace the one Rob loaned me last weekend on the JH 50th weekend. Unfortunately I broke the T piece for the anti syphon system. I guess these are unavailable so I have repaired the one I have by inserting a bit of brake pipe into the small union. I had to enlarge the tube slightly to insert it. Anyway here is a picture in case anyone else wants to see what I did. The drill is to stop the brake pipe from going in to far.

Don't know yet if it will work as it is a restriction in the system but I believe there is already a restriction in the pipe some where.

This one looks very much like the dreaded plastic T-piece under the bonnet in Stromberg equipped car. The cause of many fires.
I would suggest replacing it with a metal item, either (stainless) steel or a selfmade copper one brazed together with bronze or silver.

Hi Kees

I did search for a metal one but could not find one with the correct sizes. I will look for a T piece & maybe a reducer/adaptor to the smaller pipe.

Thanks

Hi David,
Hundreds to be found on eBay.co.uk in various sizes for anything between GBP4 and GBP12, incl. shipping, e.g.:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144061387880 ... Swsjpgt0XZ
or

Even cheaper and a better choice from China but it will take some time to arrive, up to 2-3 months but I often have been lucky in receiving an item from China within two weeks:

Odd that not all sizes are the same on the T-piece you need.

I cannot check on my own car as there is no T-piece fitted at all as it is a USA spec car. The piece of tube with the restrictor is there but it connects the one-way valve (with only one pipe connection!) on top of the tank with a long steel tube to the original carbon cannister fitted on the battery tray. I have disposed of the carbon cannister a long time ago. There actually is no need at all for all this extra pipework, you can block this of without any consequences. Though, you do have to keep the vent line/hose on top of the tank that passes through the boot floor on the right hand side. All that is needed is an electrically operated fuel valve somewhere in the pump to carbs line that opens only when the ignition is on. I have fitted it just before the fuel enters the carbs. A simpler and more effective solution than the afterthought devised by Jensen to prevent syphoning of fuel into the carbs/engine when parked nose downward.
