Absolutely Joerg! What amazed me more was that Jensen Parts & Service were happy to advertise their c*** work by using their personalised tape!!

Sell the tape on ebay as original left over from Jensen and get some refund of your restoration :-)

Work on the P66 is pretty much on hold at the moment as my father-in-law was taken into hospital last week and is very poorly…...

Thankfully, after a VERY anxious week, my father-in-law is making good progress and should be out of hospital soon, so all being well, normal service will resume shortly regarding work on the P66……

New flywheel, friction plate, clutch housing and thrust bearing fitted........

Image

Then mated the gearbox temporarily to set up the clutch linkages. Separated again now as it's impossible to fit into the car as one unit!

Image

No prizes for guessing what clutch linkage was made by the "professionals" at Jensen Parts & Service....... and what one was made by me.....!!

What was wrong with the nice silver linkage? Can't understand why you welded your own DIY solution and paint it black? :x

How come the hole is now several sizes smaller? (and round!)

Glad your father-in-law is getting better Derek. It puts matters into greater perspective when these things happen.

When you mention JPS work, would I be right to think its later rework on the car, say, during the 80s rather than when it was originally built?

Keep up the fantastic work.

I think this is an absolute beauty of a car, the colour is perfect for it, just stunning

The hole is smaller because I made it to fit properly!! The old one was either a. badly worn or b. the wrong size in the first place (more likely!)

Thanks for your comments Stuart regarding my father in law. It certainly does put things in perspective. Two weeks ago today I thought we were going to lose him, so such a relief that he is home and much better now. The P66 is a very special car, but still just a lump of metal in comparison!

JPS did a lot of work on the car in the late 80's (and maybe very early 90's) and this was when all the atrocious work was done that I've found. Fortunately, everything was correctable and the car will be even closer to it's original form when I've finished with it and everything will be working properly! (I hope!)

At last the engine is back in the P66 Prototype!! It was a difficult job as, despite putting a lot of effort into making sure the clutch was well aligned (including "pre-mating" the engine and box) as well as getting everything else prepared, the b****** still didn't want to go together in the car....... but finally they gave up to our "persuasion" and slipped together!! VERY big thanks Chris (Collingham) for your help today..... I REALLY couldn't have done it without you!!
