Re: CEA 1J Earls Court Motorshow Interceptor
Don't wind him up Kev you know how competitive he gets but seriously it's looking good Eddie
The cups still looking good on my sideboard ...... nicely polished......for at least another 6 months yet........plenty of room for other names on it though
I did notice yours on it Tim (NYC) there are a few that have won it a number of times maybe you will again.....maybe not....... but will be good to see you there if we don't catch up before... hopefully we will.
I hope more cars will enter this year although we didn't get much of a write up in the mag after the competition and if the club really wants it to be like it used too be with the number of cars being entered
I think the profile needs to be raised in the magazines before the event and after also the gold, silver, bronze catargories bought back maybe

Re: CEA 1J Earls Court Motorshow Interceptor
Engine nearly stripped down, lots of degreasing done.
Hopefully I will be on painting the block by next weekend.
Pleased to report no nasty bits in the sump, just clean oil

Timing chain replaced along with new sprockets. This chain is nice and taught.
All the little jobs are now done and I am now ready to start painting the engine. Hopefully a lot of nice jobs coming up with putting shiny bits back on.
Also collected my new battery cover which I had made to except the huge battery I have bought.

Looking good Eddie.
When painting the engine, obviously ensure no paint gets on the gasket surfaces, the easy way to mask off is to cover with masking tape and use a hammer to go around the edges to get a clean edge, rather than using a knife to trim the masking tape.
Quite a common mistake is to paint the block in the vee between the cylinders, don't do it under any circumstances, as it is covered by the inlet gasket, and when the paint starts to flake, it will fall into the sump and start to clog the oil ways.
I'm now looking at starting to put mine all back together, all the welding now done, and engine bay virtually ready to paint, so am also looking forward to the nice jobs, and a sense of satisfaction.

Thanks Kev,
That's a good tip.
I was going to avoid that area anyway as I thought any paint might interfere with the seating of the inlet manifold.
Looks like we are quite equal on where we are with our projects. So hopefully it keeps moving forward for us both.

Eddie, it is looking really nice, you're way ahead of me, I haven't started on my engine, and am only just starting to put the engine bay back together. Where did you get your heater hose outlets from for the water pump housing, and were they a pain to replace. Mine are "OK" but quite corroded, and look like a bitch to remove. Didn't know they were available so have left well alone, but whilst the engine is apart, it makes sense to replace them.

Kev, the new ones were from Robeys.
The old ones were well seized. A few days of degrip oil application sorted that.
