I received a fantastic package in the post this morning from a former owner of CEA.

This particular owner was the gentleman responsible for getting the body work restoration and colour change done in the mid nineties.

A JOC member at the time he has also sent me some old magazines which make for great reading. An old Interceptor postcard and a promotional leaflet for the S-V8

I already have a lot of invoices from the mid nineties restoration and some photos, but these extra photos and a good phone call to this prior owner really has given me some great history to go with the car.

Yes Grant the guy in the picture is Peter, the owner in the mid nineties that sent CEA in for the major resto at the time.

I have been speaking to him recently on the phone, lovely chap, has given me a potted history of when he had the car, and the twists and turns of the work, which for one reason or another was carried out by three different companies over a period time, ultimately the car was never finished whilst Peter owned CEA.

Luckily the history has stayed with the car, but Peter filled me in with more details.

I have some great old school invoices / project updates from Autobody services. A great letter to tell Peter that the restoration would move up a gear because Autobody services were amalgamated with Jencraft. Autobody would now be working with Keith Anderson.

All the invoices total £10s of thousands, so big money 25 years ago was spent.

There are plenty of letters & invoices that give the impression this was a thorough restoration. I think with the car sitting in my garage 25 years later still in great shape, this was a restoration well executed.

I feel like I’ve had a couple of years of low use of CEA with covid and lack of work = lack of money.

Now that’s all changed, I’ve decided to really make the most of the car this year and onwards.

Over Christmas I made a list of jobs that I want to get done leading up to an MOT so I can enjoy some proper motoring.

First job was to remove the radiator that has been leaking, unfortunately it needed a new core.

I have collected the finished article today. Amazing how these things look like a work of art.

Can’t wait to drop it back tomorrow :D

Looking good Eddie, I remember getting the piles of paperwork and thinking he must be mad to spend that on an old Jensen (well then it seemed that way) but guess who is now spending many thousands on an old SP

I use Neats Foot probably twice over a week by hand and than put on leather balm. Be careful with the application of Neats Foot as it can give you erotic thoughts about Grant. Nice car. Congratulations for one with prized provenance. Kenny38

I did a plugs, oil and filters change at the weekend to get ready for a rolling road set up at John Sleath racing today.

Glad I did the plugs as I had one with split ceramic.

A well worth while time was spent with John this afternoon. The result is a fantastic set up car that pulls perfectly. Probably the best money I’ve ever spent, he managed to find around 30 more horses as well.

Obviously a very knowledgeable guy who has a genius touch.
