Finally, after many many months of restoration in Scotland and a short break at Ilkeston to have some running gear fitted, my project is in my garage and ready for the rest of the fit out.

A big massive thank you to Andy Brooks and his team for all the recent work carried out to get the body fitted with wheels and stuff and the the help in getting it on the trailer. Highly recommended.

Its been a while since I looked through your thread. OMG your car is how I perceived mine to be when I get the real restoration under way. The silver is as close as I had seen to being what I was looking for, the other car with a silver finish I had liked was the early HEAD reg car mk 1 I beleive, mine was delivered silver as new. I had inquired as to replacement red leather, mine is currently black as delivered. What paint code did you use and do you have a swab of your chosen leather. You have to go with a Kenda tyre with thin red stripe on tyre wall, that will look amazing. I'm seriously thinking of shipping my car back to the UK for restoration work. The paint shops in Australia want a small mortgage for work here, but when it comes to fixing your regular drive they do it for the insurance company's for peanuts, there's a recognised over supply of panel beaters here but they still want a kings ransom when you mention classic.

After a visit to MWS I have 5 wheels good enough for chroming. Still haven't decided on cross ply or radials yet but plenty of time.

Stephen, the paint code is a guarded secret and sprayer won't share it (I've asked). My leather is the "antique red" that is available in the usual places. I'm very pleased with the bodywork and paint job but it took ages!

Some chrome pieces back from chroming and they look very respectable. The tail light surrounds are acceptable on the tops but a mixed bag on the underneath.
What I didn't notice before was that the overiders are 2 different sizes. What size go to the front? Big or small?

I can't see the pictures, but if I remember right each one matches only its specific position. If you use the middle sections as a template, each overrider should match only one of the four corners. From this pic the bigger ones go to the front...what makes sense in case of an accident

My console pieces finally returned from Classical Dash and look superb. I had to send my metal backing pieces and they glued the veneer to them and them open up the holes. The standard of work is fantastic and I highly recommend them.

I am now looking for the Lucas switches in better condition than the ones I have. Any assistance gratefully received.

Early Chrimbus pressies.

1. A V5 document from DVLA. Many thanks to John Tunnicliffe and John Lane for their assistance.
2. New number plates in a style of the time.
3. Front and rear windscreens put in by Autoglaze ltd, Ferndown. They made it look so easy with their rope tricks and assorted tools.

The color to me appears to be a silver to the gray shade. Very similar to the original color on my 74 Drophead. Complaments to all involved. Racer Joe

Great paint job. I am currently restoring 115/3227 as per pic. Hope to complete by late July/early August. Currently working on best method to veneer or similar the transmission console and dash sections. Would appreciate if you can send any pics of your finished job. I've been quiet for quite a while as not had much to add but finally it's all starting to come together.
Here's a link to a bit of video showing the engines second run. The first run was a cloud of preservation greases and a small oil leak and not much to see. This time it's clear. Running to temperature, fans cut in on cue and everything looking good. Idle being set up next and the exhaust gas analyser is ready to go.

A massive shout out to Robert Jinks (ex Rejen) who has left them and set himself up as a mobile mechanic and specialises in Jensen, Land Rover and motorcycles. You, sir, are a star.
