Good to see you having some fun in the old girl . Interesting to see the "soft" logs on the roadside, in case of an "off"

Was super fun. More ambitious than I expected. The logs spooked me, but when we were driving all you register is the road and the other cars- everything else is inexistent.Kevin Birch wrote:Good to see you having some fun in the old girl . Re: cv8 mkIII 112/2454
Noooo!!! No! No! I want the C-V8 back! Freezeplugs are being replaced and the underside of the bonnet is being reinforced (just to be safe). And a bit of tidying up while the engine is out.

Freezeplugs are replaced- there were seven! One was lodged inside the engine and the reason my water was a brown sludge. I had trouble convincing Andi not to take apart the whole car

Re: cv8 mkIII 112/2454
Brilliant Felix, and the best easiest way to do the job.. take the bloody engine out, it is far quicker than fiddling around for hours trying to change them, lovely pics Felix and the best bit of Andi's workshop is all the beer bottles!!

I have no idea what it entails to remove the engine, but Andi confirmed that it was the best approach. And on the C-V8 it‘s supposedly relatively quick and easy. Next week I‘ll be helping him put it back in.

The outer skin of the Webasto sunroof needs replacing, it has split at the seams. Any advice on this?
I have found a description on the removal. The company listed which do the skin have unfortunately retired:

Probably any trimmer will ne able to replace the skin, but I‘m wondering if there is a specialist?

Re: cv8 mkIII 112/2454
It looks a lot easier to pull the engine out of a CV8 than an Interceptor, and those plugs were well past their best. This is a truly good car, as Felix let me have a drive up the Grimsel, I've not smiled as much since being driven around a race track in a McClaren Mercedes. Thanks Felix.
Those beer bottles on the shelf are a slippery slope, you'll soon start to collect other things like Mk2 Interceptor steering wheels, and other things.

Re: cv8 mkIII 112/2454
Hi Kevin. I'd imagine so, but Andi is known to take the engine out of his FF if it needs something done. Grimsel: very welcome! All credit for the car goes to the previous owners and to Andi, who treats the C-V8 as if it were his.Kevin Birch wrote:It looks a lot easier to pull the engine out of a CV8 than an Interceptor, and those plugs were well past their best. Re: cv8 mkIII 112/2454
I got a quote for GBP 550 excl VAT from the Trimming Centre for having the Webasto retrimmed. It would just include doing the outer skin, without replacing the headliner or any of the other parts.

The Trimming Centre are pioneers in the fitting of the Webasto sunroof, a trade which has been handed down through generations over last 55 years.
At the start of Tudor Webasto establishing the business in the UK, George Camp, after hours in a workshop in Clapham with a small team of craftsmen , lead the way in fitting of the sunroof. George and his team developed their techniques of roof installations over the years and were recognised as the main suppliers and fitters of the Tudor Webasto coachbuilt sunroof in the country.
In 1969 George and his son Steve Camp started the Brighton franchise C&D Autos. At the height of the industry they were fitting approximately fifty Webasto sunroofs a week.
