I did notice that the wheel centres were also perfectly aligned (horizontal)
I did think of mentioning this to Jason for the mark 1 on their stand but thought better of it

I'm still working my way through a snagging list of minor jobs on the car and have now found the annoying rattle when the a/c came on and have spent a few hours today calibrating my fuel gauge which showed a higher than normal reading and the low level light never came on.
I had to drain the tank and remove the sender unit to adjust the float height but now it reads perfectly and the low level light comes on with just over 2 gallons left in the tank so it's one less thing to annoy me. The sender unit should read approx 220 ohms with an empty tank and the low level contact should read 0 ohms to earth, this is worth checking if you fit a new sender unit as mine was a new unit and by not checking as I assembled it meant i had lots more work to rectify it.
Next job is to make some more adjustments to the passenger door as this is the only closing panel I am still not happy with.

The problem is now that the rear of the passenger door is not closing by about 4mm and by adjusting the goalpost in slightly it closes up much better but after a while the goalpost moves back out.
So i will remove the rear trim and goalpost to see what is going on.
After employing many experts and making adjustments myself i am nearly there with the closing panel gaps but i will be taking much more intrest in the fit on my next project before the final paint is applied as everything is much harder and scarier to adjust once the paintwork is finished.
The doors are not 100% perfect but much better than many i have seen and i am now happy that the drivers door and bonnet are good but its been a hard and expensive learning curve for me to get this far.

Even with Dave not being happy with the gaps it was still better than the Cropredy / Bavarez cars

Finally got round to sorting out the passenger door catch, having removed the goalpost the holes were made slightly larger and it was refitted with a rubber gasket I made up which helps it stay where it is fastened so hopefully it will not move out again.
It was a fairly quick and easy job once I got started, heres a before and after photo.
Still not 100% but at least it doesn't look like ive left the door open.

I have had a fair few owners asking me what I used for the insulation and heat proofing on the bulkhead so thought I would add it here for future reference of other owners.
The insulation material is the same as commonly used in industrial a/c and air handling units
I got mine from:

I have tried to stick to originality when rebuilding the car with the view to carry out any upgrades only to issues that became evident over time rather than update everything and this has mainly been ok.
I have had an issue with the rear springs though, I did fit a new set when the car was restored and they were 2" too high until the car started being driven they then began to settle but just kept settling with the result of the car sitting 1 ½ " too low.
I was going to wait until winter to sort this but did not want to chance damaging the underneath of the car so a pair of coil overs have been fitted to to car today and I can now adjust the ride height to suit also they have the advantage of 14 damper settings.
Other than this and an annoying small power steering leak the car has been great and no other upgrades will be required.
Now looking forward to the Cornwall weekend I just need to ring the insurance company as I've almost used my 3000 mile limit this year.
