My new C-V8

Post by Chris C »

After a long search I am now the proud owner of 112/2378 FRY 879D

Looks good in the photos but needs a respray, original colour was silver/grey.

Would be grateful for any history.

Collected the car from Kestrel last month, put all of the shiny bits back on and just been on a trip to the Isle of Wight. Ordered new carpets from Rejen on the way back.

Don't forget regalia supply you with a very nice set over overmats to help to protect your nice new carpets. With the C-V8 logo as well.
Only working half a day now.

Very nice Chris,

which colour did you choose? Close to Botticelli Blue but not quite, me thinks.

its a blue-grey I saw first with introduction of the CLS, very smart. Did you spray the engine bay as well? Enjoy Chris

The engine bay was sprayed as far as it was possible to go with the engine still in. I have just sprayed the rocker covers and air cleaner - plenty more to do.

Hi Chris, this CV8 (FRY 879D) was bought originally from new (I believe) by a family member who was a Catholic priest in Cheshire. I have a number of photos of the car and a bit of backstory if you wish to get in contact via DM.

Chris will probably tell you but your relative was the second owner of this car, the Rev J L Fox of Nantwich, Cheshire, who bought the car in 1968. The first owner was a Jim Pearce-Smith of The Walled Garden, Lytchett-Matravers in Dorset, I have a project on the go where I am researching the first owners of C-V8s but Jim Pearce-Smith is a bit of blank wall, in fact I can find out more about his garden wall than I can about him. Don't let this put you off talking to Chris though, current owners are always hungry for information on previous owners.
