The SP filled me with pride this weekend. Whilst it was ticking over in the garage for a minute it shook a bottle of bleach off a shelf in the house next door (detached houses), what a gem.

From the British Geological Survey:

European Macroseismic Intensity Scale
1/Not felt — detected by seismic instruments only
2/Very weak — felt by very few people
3/Weak — felt by a few people indoors
4/Noticed by many people, windows and doors rattle
5/Strong — some small objects fall over
6/Slightly damaging — objects fall off shelves
7/Damaging — parts of chimneys fall
8/Very damaging — large cracks in walls
9/Destructive — some houses collapse
10/Very destructive — many houses collapse
11/Devastating — most ordinary buildings collapse
12/Completely devastating — practically all structures above and below ground are heavily damaged or destroyed

The Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale is commonly used in the United States by seismologists seeking information on the severity of earthquake effects. It runs from I (weakest) to XII (Almost everything is destroyed).
VI. Everyone feels movement. People have trouble walking. Objects fall from shelves. Pictures fall off walls. Furniture moves. Plaster in walls might crack. Trees and bushes shake. Damage is slight in poorly built buildings. No structural damage.

Six out of twelve ain’t bad
Your SP is greater in magnitude than a ‘strong’ earthquake

I would classify it as "Completely Devastating" - it's a 12!

Nice looking car!

Congrats!

Glad to see the best driving SP will soon be the same on the outside.

You can see the original Reef Blue under the kick plates.

Already too many Reef Blue cars in Cornwall...

Can't wait to see it finished and setting off car alarms throught Devon/Cornwall

Yep, cut out the bits of rot and make good then splash some paint on it. Interior refurbish, sort a few niggles and rebuild the original rear axle with new limited slip diff and fosseway brakes. Oh and a service and new speakers.
It’s all working well and the body isn’t too bad as it’s had a working life and hasn’t spent much time sat around, all original arches etc. All it appears to have had replaced is the bonnet and the front valence 25 years ago, when it turned grey.

Been a while for an update so here we are.
The idea of “a slight tidy up” has changed a bit, for a start we found a bit more rot than expected underneath so we stripped it back and cut it all out and it’s now rot free ( it was surprisingly original under there so we didn’t cut out any more than needed).
Then we moved onto the crusty bits on the body, this is when we found that it isn’t quite as original as first thought but you have to hand it to the people who replaced the arches they did a good job and an average job around the rear and front valences (I know who you are 😉). So decision time, to me the car deserves to be done right so we stripped it back to bare metal and have given it a coat of sealer primer before starting the repairs.
Watch this space, it’s booked into the paint shop in 8 weeks but what with the other bits I recon it’ll be finished later this year.
