This is Hugh Haines' FF II, pictured on its first run out at the International


This was the first time the car had been wet for over 30 years



The car is actually owned by Hugh's father, Berry, who bought the car when nearly new. Hugh has just finished a mammoth rebuild and this was the cars first outing. As Hugh hadn't had time for a shake down run he trailered the car to the International which meant it wasn't eligible for concours (unlike some other clubs ours have to be driven to concours). I think the car would have done well if entered but Hugh did come away with the members choice award

I have just finished typing up Hugh's notes and scanning the photos.

This is what Hugh had to say about the FF:

BH8000 was purchased by my dad, Berry Haines in 1971, approx 6 months old with 1500 miles on the clock.

Being a farmer he looked for an FF because of the history with Harry Ferguson and his Grey Fergie tractor.

He found this one for sale in a garage in Nottingham, went up, viewed and bought it, and drove back to Wales.

It was used for 10 years or so, towing a horse box (also in tangerine ).

By the early 80s it got quite rusty and was taken to the Jensen factory for a body refurbishment. It was then used for a couple of Internationals around the mid 80s.

Dad’s interest moved more towards horses at that time and the car was put into storage until 2010, when a refurbishment was started, only a paint refurbishment was initially going to take place, but after 6 months or so further work and detailing was started to bring it back to its former glory.

Its first MOT was some 25 years later when it passed in February 2013.

My dad is 85 years old now and it has brought back many happy memories and hopefully be enjoyed for many years to come.

At the International Weekend, my car was given the award of “The Best FF”.

I feel that I won this award by default, because in my opinion, Hugh’s car was far and away the best FF present. Unfortunately, Hugh’s car was not eligible for entry into the Concours competition and so did not qualify for the award.

I would like to put it on public record that in my opinion, Hugh’s car was the best FF and should be recognised as such – it was fantastic!

In comparison, I would like to quote my friend Steve Johnson who, when he arrived asked “where do we park the rusty ones?” and my reply “next to mine”.

I look forward to seeing Hugh’s car many more times at JOC events in the future.

Very generous, David, but your award was well deserved as you have not been afraid to put some miles under the wheels of your lovely FF. Luckily Hugh's car still picked up a major award that it qualified for, and will no doubt be back to contest for Concours in years to come. I hope he considered the cluster of people around his car to be ample recompense this year!

Yes ineeded to update that figure hard to believe its only 12 months ago i made that statement this fine FF tis prob in the region of 100-150 k now do you reckon ???
