In Memorium - Robert 'Bob' Humphreys (JOC Member #10075, San Diego, CA)
It is with great sadness that we notify the membership of the passing of Robert “Bob” Humphreys. His passing was a very sudden and unexpected event on 05 March, 2021. He is interred at Miramar National Cemetery – a final resting place for U.S. Military Veterans. His wife Barbara, and his Jensen Interceptor were the loves of his life. Bob joined our club in 2014.
Bob Humphreys was age 79, born in Pennsylvania, was a US Navy veteran, a sweets lover (especially his wife's baking), a blood donor, a photographer and an engineer. When young, Bob loved fishing, going to the shore in Cape May, New Jersey, and racing cars competitively. While in college, he met the love of his life, and in 1966 Bob and Barbara married. Shortly after graduating from college, Bob took great honor in serving his country in the Navy as a Civil Engineer and working closely with SEABEE’s (U.S. Navy Construction Battalion). He loved the Navy, which was evident by the plethora of books and magazines he collected. His Civil Engineer unit in Vietnam built lasting structures and his time there left a positive influence on his life.
After Bob left the Navy, he began long year career in the Civil Service. This career began by moving Barbara and their two young children to San Diego. He enjoyed tooling around in his British Sports cars, with the wind in his hair and Barbara at his side.
